Bought the chip in Nov. 2020 for my main/daily rig and it's been running relatively smooth since then. I had a system crash with the following reboot saying there was no drive. Don't know what fixed it but 3rd or 4th boot it came back to life. I had a screen flicker about a week or so ago but nothing ended up happening: my GPU is really outdated it's a Radeon 6450 passive card with a 140mm fan blowing over it - stays cool. I'm not experiencing reboots nor WHEA errors but I decided to run a P95 core cycler test called CoreCycler-v0.7.9.2 that I found on the Overclock forums. Link: https://github.com/sp00n/corecycler The 5th or 6th core consistently gives an error (only 2 tests) The bios is a full release by Asus 3302 for the Dark Hero. However, it can pass OCCT for an hour without WHEA errors or any errors. Everything is at default, even the memory.

It seems ok but I'm developing a little suspicion. I've already visited the AMD Warranty page. Maybe it's the bios.. I'm waiting for the next release which is fairly soon, there's a beta with the mouse fix AGESA 1.2.0.2 listed on the support page.. I'm hesitant about going back to an older bios but I might look into it if I have to.

What do you think?

I have an older Asus Strix B450I. But at this point I know it's the CPU again! :(

I updated the BIOS yesterday to the latest BETA with AGESA 1.2.0.1A and same errors with the new 5950X. I don't know why but the game Need For Speed Payback seems to trigger machine reboots very consistently. Every time I start playing within less than 5min machine turns off but the MB leds stay on. I turned off PBO (AUTO by default, I changed to Disabled) but same results... Single core boost frequency didn't change so it looks like AUTO is actually Disabled for this MSI X570 Unify.

Just got the loaner 5800X and it went through 4 hours of Corecycler: 0 issues
Played the above NFS game for an hour and again: 0 issues
And I just changed the CPU! Same UEFI, same Windows install, same everything except the CPU!

I am opening a second RMA with AMD

To update my adventure... I got a new 5950X 2106PGS and I am glad to say this one is stable at stock! I ran one day of CoreCycler Prime95 and another day of CoreCycler y-cruncher and it worked without any errors! Again same UEFI, parts, load defaults and same Windows Install. I am seeing the same kind of boost as the previous CPUs though. Some people commented lower boost frequencies but this new one is getting up to 5050MHz on the best cores and and between 4800~5000MHz on the other cores all stock with PBO disabled (max boost noted by HWiNFO for each core).

Bonus: this one is stable with FCLK at 1900MHz and very low voltages (VSOC 1.06V, CLDO VDDP 0.90V, VDDG_CCD 0.94V and IOD 0.98V). No more WHEA!

So... After two bad 5950s (2044 and 2104) I finally got a stable one!
