Question 5800X and Prime95 core wattage

So still burning in a new build 5800X on an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming and noticed some behavior maybe I've never seen before. While running torture test, wattage is ~8W/core, CPU temp is around ~65°C. Under the 12K iteration pictured the wattage jumps to 15W/core, temps jump to 89°C. Case is an FT02 with a Noctua NH-U12S chromax.Black. CPU is running ASUS defaults 4450 - 4603 all core loaded. Just curious if this behavior has been seen before and how it relates to internal cpu usage.

This is normal. You can expect to see up to 20W per core consumption depending on load, SSE/AVX/AVX2 etc., along with the temperatures you see. Mostly its due to heat density.
5800x has same max power budget of 141W as 5900x/5950x, so it's going to run hot.

Set your PPT in BIOS to 130 / 120 or lower if you want lower on die core temp.

Check the 5000 series builders thread for 5800X owners experiments and benchmarks.
