Which and why?

2 X XFX 5750's - 254.99 with free shipping
1 X XFX 5850 - 309.99 + 7.99 Shipping

Which will perform better? You have 2 hours to convince me :)

overall I would rather have a 5850. also I will just copy and paste this that I have posted in the other threads asking the same question about 5770 crossfire. and of course the 5750 crossfire would be even worse.

Although the CrossFireX configuration built out of two Radeon HD 5750 was overall superior to the single Radeon HD 5850 and the two Radeon HD 5770 were faster than the single Radeon HD 5870, I wouldn’t say that they are preferable. The problem is that the CrossFireX tandems are often inferior in terms of bottom speed due to the AFR rendering mode and 128-bit memory bus. The latter shows up in high-quality modes and at high resolutions. So, while CrossFireX boosts the average frame rate to the level of top-end graphics cards, the bottom frame rate remains rather low. And it is the bottom speed that determines the level of playing comfort.

The 5850. If you want more power than 2 5750s, then you have to try to sell off 2 5750s to free your slots.

If you want more power than a single 5850, just buy a 2nd 5850.

Aside from the framerate issues, think of the logistics involved in upgrading from a pair of already mediocre cards. Just buy one good one.

One thing I want to add to this...

I recommend that you read the article yourself. I quickly glanced over it and looking just at games that are DX10 or higher, and only the 1920x1200 resolution with the highest AA/AF, I would pick a pair of 5770 over the 5850. Yes, I know that the OP said a pair of 5750 but the pair of 5770 would be $10 more if they came with free shipping. This is just on a quick glance...

Problem is that two XFX 5770's are 356 shipped from newegg. The egg is offering a combo deal on the 5750's

I like to think of crossfire of sli as a way to upgrade in the future if needs/prices change. No point in starting out with crossfire if there is a single card solution that does what you want. Besides the point you can get a 5850 for much less than that if you find the right place to shop. I saw Dell had a visiontek model for about 250 recently after coupon code. You really should not have to pay over the MSRP of 280 depending of course on what country you live.

Saw that as well. Problem is that dell won't be shipping those cards for a couple of weeks.
