5700ultra problem

just bought a 5700 ultra.. everything desktop looks fine.. but when you load a game.. ie halo.. once it goes to the select screen .. ie the multiplayer singleplayer.. it goes all red and all the graphics are fubar.....

i have no clue what the problem is.

athlon 1.4
windows xp pro
512ram pc133


 
Can you return it for a refund or to swap for a better card? A 5900 costs about the same and is a faster card.

As for your problem, does this happen only with Halo?
 
no reason to RMA your card, that card should work just fine in the system it's in. Who makes your card? You could try a reformat, and if that doesnt work, than mabye there is a conflicting bus issue.

I understand that your all hyped up about your 5700U, but dont go telling people that it is the best buy. Dalilama can buy a 5900 for less money and then upgrade his rig later while still having a superior card. Regardless of how you love your card, and I'm sure it is a good card, it cannot hold a candle to the 5900's even when the 5900's are clocked MUCH slower.

Be happy with your purchase. Dont tell other folks to make the same (unintentional) mistake that you did. More performance, less money. Where is the argument? If this person has the chance to upgrade through RMA then he damn well should.

Your card is very good, it's just not as good as others.

keysplayer? what's your deal? I was just telling him that there's no reason to RMA his card if he could fix the problem with a reformat. Relax. What happens if he RMAs his card and the new one doesnt work either because instead of trying to help him fix an unknown problem you just told him to get a new card.

Because when Nick said this: "RMA it and get a better video card for the same amount of money."

It was like you were trying to immediatley shoot down the idea of this guy upgrading from a 5700U through RMA. If thats even a doable thing.
Look, I am an easy going guy, but I call em like I see em. You know I would go out of my way to help someone. As I did with you one time.

No offense intended Sneaky. Nick & Pete both were trying to tell this guy to RMA his card just for the sake of getting a better one. Why bother getting his current one to work when he might upgrade potentially. And if and when he does RMA for a better card and the problem still occurs, we will help him then to if he asks.

Dalilama, as for your problem, check the temps of your core in the nvidia driver applet before and after you run a game. Check and make sure your core is set to 475 in 3D mode and 900 in memory. Thats stock speed for a 5700U as far as I know.

If temps are normal ( idle can be anywhere from 45 to 60 ish and 3D can shoot up to 75) check cables and connectors.

Start with that first. Let us know what you find.

This is what upset me, I think you got the wrong message here, i'm well aware that you can get a 5900 for $165 now, but i'm just trying to help him with what he has NOW. I understand that the 5700u is NOT a best buy, and I was not trying to say that, I just think you went a little overboard with your post because it almost seems like you're trying to attack me. I'm very sorry if i upset you, there are no hard feelings over here, and i hope the feeling is mutual.

went to the store walked in.. said this card sucks.. walked out with a 9600xt and 20dollars in my hand 🙂 now
