depends on which game you play

If its any mmorpg, battlefield 1942, ut2k3, or anything that uses the quake III engine, you will lag a$$.

But if its anything else, such as starcraft, half-life, diablo II, or yahoo games, it won't be that bad.

It was?

I always remember the lag being absolutely terrible irregardless of how decent your dialup connection was, how many other people were in the game, etc.

Constantly sliding off the side into the lava was always fun. :frown:

And there was always one damn LPB in every game who was either one of the minority at the time who had a broadband connection, or was running the server himself.

Sweet as hell on a LAN though. :)

Later..

BAD lagg. I went to DSL because the sites I played on all complained about it, it was affecting the other players as well.:D

I played Red Alert and NFSIII over 56k modem, it was okay...but there was some lag in NFSIII.

If he wants to get some really serious gaming in then he needs broadband.

Just do NOT get Satellite "broadband" a guy at work got it and was bragging about it up to the day he tried to play Evercrack on it. Lagged worse than 56k.
