This is what I don't get. How can you have different versions of the same card, particularly low/high end? And also yeah its 250 from scan isn't it.

Thanks for that, valuable information. I'm not sure how to OC to be honest yet, so should I buy one that says it's already OC'd?

Oh and I assume a 770 will definitely fit my motherboard since the 560 does? Cooling etc the same should be fine, power supply?

Apologies for all the questions, I had my PC built for me and really need to learn more when I get time.

Cooling will depend on the cooler type you get, stock coolers tend to be louder and less efficient than custom coolers.

Cooling will also depend on the airflow of your case. I'm sure If your 560TI was cool enough then a 770 should be too.

The standard 770 is 1.5CM longer than a standard 560TI, custom PCB/cooler designs may be different. Might be worth looking up the exact card you have and compare the length to any 770's you are considering ordering, just to be sure it fits.

I think actually the 770's are already clocked at 7GHz for memory so don't worry about that.

If you can afford the lightning, go for it, it has much better overclocking capabilities.

for the extra £4 it seems more than worthwhile, even at stock clocks.

actually, the reviews (serious ones) of the 770 lightning destroyed it, saying the power delivery sux, amongst other things.

looks like the asus is the n1; i went gigabyte to avoid possible RMA madness, though.

edit: ermm, kinda.

its still great, but not *outstanding* , compared to the other offerings.

Either of the Gaming or Lightning cards will be excellent IMO. The cooling on both is superb and the price is right as well. Gigabyte and Asus versions of the GPU seem to cost more even though they're similar quality.

I have been reading and yes it does seem the ASUS is the best for quietness and cooling. It's on amazon for £255 but no games with it. The others on scan are 3 games included but still £255. The ASUS on scan is more I think, but three games for £274. So I think the ASUS one with three games for £274 obviously better than without for 255.

But is the ASUS 274 worth extra 20 quid over the lightening and evga.

Thanks for the comments, I have some more research to do, or maybe it doesn't make an difference lol. Although the price is creeping up. 760 only 200.

MSI 760 Gaming £190 on eBuyer

No. The regular Asus is worth the same amount of money as MSI Gaming, and Asus TOP is roughly equal to MSI Lightning. All of these are worth more than EVGA (in my opinion, I value cooling performance more than support service; although it'd be a different story if you were looking specifically for a blower style cooler which EVGA excels in).

I've had nothing but good experiences with them, every order was delivered the next working day and no issues to mention. That was about two years ago though.

Btw just out of curiosities sake, the 780 I found a super clocked eVGA one for £390

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-...mhz-gddr5-gpu-967mhz-boost-1020mhz-cores-2304

I wouldn't imagine for 1080p it's required really for the price? 140 more than a OC 770.

Will the 780 drop down to £300 after Christmas?

Otherwise I was thinking in terms of the future, someone would be better served with 2 OC 770's in sli for 500, rather than one 780 at 400? Especially if the 770 goes down to 200 later in the year.

No, it's not required for 1080p @60hz. It can be useful for maintaining solid 60fps in demanding games, but smooth 60fps is perfectly achievable on a GTX 760 as well if you're willing to sacrifice some image quality. GTX 780 is really worth getting if you're gaming on 1440p or 1080p @120hz.

No one knows.

For 1080p @60hz I'd say you're best served by using one 770-class GPU, always. The 770 will start showing its age around the same time that cards with 30-50% more bang are available for the same price as the 770 now. So rather than buying another 770, it'd be better to just sell the 770 and upgrade to a faster single card with newer features and better perfromance per watt.

Literally all consumer PCIe 3.0 devices are compatible with all consumer motherboards that have PCIe 3.0 support. And apart from the lowest end boards, all modern motherboards have PCIe 3.0. In addition, PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 are electrically compatible both ways. It's not something that needs to be tested on a per card basis

OK well it's paid for now. Thanks a bunch for all the info everyone. I don't upgrade very often at all so it can take a while to realize where the industry is at. Everything has changed a lot after 1.5-2 years lol.

Next step after fitting 770 is to see if I can OC my 2500K. Then should be set for at least a year.

Its here and fitted for a few days now. I can play older games and easier ones like Grid 2 and Dirt 3 on max everything with really high FPS. Playing COD Ghosts on max it plays OK but the FPS was a bit low so I lowered a couple things. But I've read that Ghosts can be difficult actually any way due to being a port?

I need to test some demanding games if I can think of some to get. BF4 will be arriving soon though I think. I will try the games that came with card also, Arkham origins, Assassins creed and splinter cell. Edit, Origins just sits at 60 mostly, locked? Although does drop to 30 a lot.

If anyone is interested:

Comparison on 3d mark is good though I think. stock i5-2500k with
560 Ti - firestrike = 3136
770 lightning - firestrike = 6903

I was told the 560ti score was low. Is the 770 one OK or?

The physics score was 2000 less than the graphics score for the 770.

The 2500k and the windforce I understand can both be overclocked. Will overclocking these both be safe / give any extra gaming performance?

Your 3DMark FS score is right on track, and seems to have corrected any issues related to your 560Ti. The 770 actually isn't quite twice as fast at the 560Ti, but as you can see, your score more than doubled.
