if you are willing to spend the $$ for the Sony you should be considering the Pannsonic VT30 and Samsung D8000 plasmas which are the top 2 plasmas right now, all 3 are excellent.

im a plasma fan but if i had to buy an LCD it would be the Sony HX929

really cant go wrong with those 3

I have the VT30 in my cart on Amazon and getting closer to hitting the submit button.

Well, went to Best Buy/Magnolia to look at getting the Panny VT30 today. It was on sale and a little cheaper after tax than Amazon. The sales guy was a real dick and not very helpful so I decided to give my money to Amazon. Anyways, have the VT30, a Yamaha RX-A2010 and a Panny BDT110 Blu-ray player coming. I plan to use the Panny blu-ray player for most movie watching and then 3d gaming on the Xbox and PS3. Super excited!

I've had my panny plasma for about 8 months. I didn't break it in or any of that silly stuff. I just used it for what I want and it's been solid. I wish plasma's didn't make so much heat and use so much electricity. That's my only complaints really. They don't make a perfect tv though but that vt30 is as close as you can get.

Congrats on your purchase. theres lots of general info and such here. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1331665 you can read while you wait for it to come

curious how was the BB dude being a dick? anything special or just the typical BB stupidity

I've been reading the post over at AVS for the last week. Nothing like reading through 100 pages of posts on about 4 different products :)

Anyways, the BB guy just was very short with me, didn't really want to help with selling the product, and basically just stayed at the counter when I told him I also was wanting to by an AV receiver. Sadly, the guys in media were a lot more helpful when I needed them to find a copy of Battlefield 3 for the PC. If it wasn't for needing to use up a gift certificate, I would have just walk out without buying anything.

Why are you covering that beautiful window with that horrible TV? :(

And even though this is an old thread, my LG has gotten really bad now.

Well, I've had my P55VT30 since Monday and the tv is awesome. I was skeptical about 3d, but we have watched a few movies, ESPN 3D, a couple shows and played a few games on the PS3 and Xbox. I'm now wishing more content was 3d capable.
