Regarding BMI, the standard data analysis (CDC is a good standard source) out is way too lenient. 24.9 BMI is freaking FAT - normal range my a**. Also BMI for men and women are NOT the same (appearance wise) despite what the standard says.
For example for a 5'8" person a BMI of 20 makes out to 131.5 lbs. This works fine for a women; but you're going to be a skinny geeky looking guy most of the time.
Generally speaking I'd consider anything over a BMI of 18-20 for young women in the acceptable range, barring an unusual body type. For 5'5", that would be 120 lbs max. For the haters out there- I'm not prompting any kind of unhealthy behavior. Show me a height and weight that corresponds to a BMI of 18 (for a normal height women so people have a frame of reference, say 5'0" to 5-8") that is too thin or anorexic. by normal societal standards; it can't be done.
