5400rpm laptop hd vibrating?

i upgraded my thinkpad x22's hd to a hitachi 40gb 5400rpm drive. i've noticed slight vibrations in the palm rest. not only when the hd is being accessed, but constanly.

anyone else notice this?

I have an x20 with the same drive and dont notice any vibrations

Got a dell with Hitachi 5400 rpm ...

no noticable constant vibrations...

Is it not set up to turn off the drive when it is not accessed?

i have it set up to turn off when idle after a set number of minutes.

the vibration isn't from the HD access (when the HD led flashes). it's a constant vibration.

Then, it may have to do with the CPU fan. May be it is loose or may be there is a wire that is too close to the fan and causes the vibration.
