Received it this morning

Viking Value RAM PC13364X64CL3-16SP
PC133 CL3
Spectek manufactured PCB and chips (B Grade Micron Chips) w/ Spectek Hologram
P64M6416YAC-75A Specs

Warm deal only considering its Spectek and CL3, ok for non-overclocking use :frown:

Have you come across any 512MB DIMMs that are CL2? Crucial and Mushkin only sell CL3 512's - who has faster?

I orderd two of these sticks and then I cancelled my order when Tigerdirect spooked me with it's "Won't drop back to PC100" line. I'm assuming they say that so you don't go sticking this in a BX board that can't handle the single sided stick but I'm not sure if a eMac can handle it either.

Bought some from a private seller on the for sale forum for less anyway. If anyone trys this ram in an older board post and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

- J

True, but Mushkin and Crucial are often held up as high performance vendors - I wouldn't have guessed that Kingston (ValueRAM!) would have a CL2 DIMM when Mushkin and Crucial didn't.

Did anyone notice the text at the very bottom of the tigerdirect page?

*These Products are factory recertified.

I'm a little worried about refurb RAM...anyone had any experience?

I'm sure the Spectek stick I got is brand new, Manufacturing timestamp on the chips 0236 (Week 36, 2002) = September, Packaging date at Viking 9/17/02. No scratch marks on the gold contacts. Highly doubt they can ship to the distributor, sell it, RMA and refurbish within 7 days.

The RAM I got is Double Sided. Running happily on my friend's Asus CUV3X. Per the Spectek Spec sheet listed above it is compatible w/ Intel PC100 & PC133 specs.

Be warned though, it seems that TigerDirect is doing a "lottery pick" of what they have in inventory, so it's possible you'll end up with some OEM sticks. On my invoice it states Viking PREMIUM PC133, but I've received the Value version. I've verified w/ Viking tech support by phone, the RAM is eligible for full lifetime warranty.
