512MB PC3200 $35 FREE shipping @Newegg

Which 512mb stick would one recommend for my pc2100 motherboard? 🙂 Since I'll be running it at 133mhz, it'll be CAS2 no matter what right? So I can't go wrong with either of the three?

I should of wait. I just bought exact wintec RAM listed above for $51 included shipping few weeks ago, and I thought that was a good deal.

Free ram.....I remember those days! Actually, I did have PNY pay me ~$16 and change a couple years ago, for a stick of pc2100 256mb ram. I bet quite a few of us got in on that deal, at Office Depot, eh?

Ah, the good old days of hot deals, back before retailers got canny about things like combining coupons with rebates. :brokenheart:

Along the same lines, I'm wondering what speeds can be mixed and matched. I have a stick of 512MB PC2700 in one of my computers. That Wintec 3200 should work with it just fine right? (I know they will be held back to the slower speed of 2700 if it works)

I'm doing a new PC build but will use a poor little stick of PC2100 256 mb until the price of PC3200 1 GB single sticks with CAS 2.5 gets closer to $125.00. I want 2 GBs of total RAM. It stinks that lots of mobos I've seen (and would like to buy) indicate you can populate all four slots if you use ECC or single-sides mods (at reduced RAM speeds).

Are you overclocking or not?

If not then any of the above ram will be fine.

If you're overclocking then remember the extra money you spend on oc'able ram and an oc'able motherboard could have been spent on a better processor in the first place 🙂

You do NOT need to overclock your ram as long as your motherboard has capable dividers.

I have ASUS A7N8X and was running different brands of PC2100 and PC2700 in Dual Channel Mode without any problems.

False. You can definitely go wrong. My system is running a 166 FSB, but my motherboard won't let me loosen the CAS latency to less than 2.5 cycles. As a consequence, the CL3 PC3200 I bought from Newegg won't run in my motherboard. It never occurred to me that my motherboard wouldn't let me use a CAS latency of 3 cycles. Pretty lame...
