Com'on guys, how often do ram goes bad after you put it in and it work. I have Ram for my p2 and it still works. So if u buy the pc2700 from mwave, the minute u put it in and it don't work, return it and get the right one. Once its in, it'll stay there for life.

MWave has always been my favorite place to get stuff. Some prices are a little higher than other shops, and some prices are a little lower. When Im upgrading, I ussually do the whole 'puter, so MWave has been a great place to get multiple items and reduce shipping costs. Delivery has always been a plus.

BUT!

WHen buying from them, I highly recommend getting name-brand for critical components such as memory and power supplies. My last comp (2 years ago, been unemployed and not able to upgrade since :( ) I ordered 2 sticks of 256MB PC133 DRAM Generic. Great price. I configured everything and off I went. I had an ASUS VIA4in1 mobo with a quantum SQ 2500 AUreal soundcard and had many problems issuing frmo that, so I never really noticed the signs of a bad memory address on one of the chips. A year later, I removed the sound card and noticed that I kept getting some bad files while downloading. I saw a post saying that the cause could be bad memory and downloaded a free memory adress checker. Sure enough, of the the sticks had a bad bit. And all it takes is one bad bit.

This stick could have been bad since the first day I got it. I was too busy trying to get an unsupported soundcard to work with VIA4in1, I may have never noticed that some of the cause was due to the stick.

In conclusion, MWave is a good shop, but some of the generic stuff is not worth buying. I should have paid the extra $20 to get Kingston or Crucial.

PS: AUreal SQ2500 Quad is STILL the best sound card Ive ever heard. SB bought out AUreal, but STILL hasn't used the hardware in their soundcards. Such a shame too.

I just bought a stick for the rig I'm putting together for my dad...figure I can run this at PC2100 at 2-2-2-6 and not have problems right?

EDIT: I got the memory and sho nuff its VData, and ITS UTTER GARBAGE!!! I put this in my K7S5A, which is PC2100. Now, with my two sticks of Crucial PC2100, I could overclock the FSB to 150/150 with no problems (running at 6-2.5-2-2) or I could run 5-2-2-2 at default speed of 133/133. Now I put this 'supposed' stick of PC2700 from Mwave in (taking out the two Crucial sticks of course.) Lo and behold, can't overclock the FSB beyond 138/138, and the memory is stuck at 6-3-3-3 and Sandra says memory controller is doing 1-way interleave (always said 4-way before!!!) A big WTF??? Sure my board might be finnicky cuz its an ECS but still, I learned my lesson with regards to memory...

No idea where you read that, but according to this article at digitimes:

"According to DRAMeXchange, late February contract prices for 256Mbit DDR dropped to between US$3.65 and US$4.25, down about 19% from earlier in the month. Contract prices for 128Mbit DDR also plunged about 17-22% to between US$1.75 and US$2.25."
..
"The Chinese-language Commercial Times cited DRAMeXchange as forecasting that early March DDR contract prices were likely to fall another 10-15% in the direction of spot prices due to a continued slump in demand."

Which sounds to me like we can expect DDR retail prices to continue to fall over the next few weeks at least.
