$80 for 512MB of fast PC3200 memory is not too bad.....

Note: the $10 rebate was recently dded, improving an already reasonably low price for this type of memory.

No, it's not a report, the $10 rebate is new, previously the deal was for $90 without the rebate. This is a new and better deal. Sorry you had to spend $90 and now it's $80, it happens, deal with it....

Read the entire thread. People are aware of the rebate. People also mention the model and description of the rebate doesn't match the memory.

I bought the 2x256 BH5 deal. I passed on this because of the lack of confirmation about it being BH5.

I guess you don't seem to realize that once a thread is started for a specific deal, it usually cannot be changed to anounce a new deal, unless the original poster changes the title, but even then it's not a good idea because people will have to read the whole old thread to figure out the original deal and the new deal. So the simple rule of thumb is that a new deal gets a new thread, and you can't just barge in here and say that this is a repost because there's another thread about a similar deal, and that someone there made a comment about this new deal. Bottom line - it's a new deal, it gets a new thread. Kapish ?

Yeah, right, like anyone is going to read an entire thread which started on Oct 1st to learn about a current hot deal.

Outpost is Fry's online store. Yesterday I got this deal for $77-$20 Rebate or $57 at Fry's in the Bay Area. Seems that retail is a better deal which is amazing. I should also note the Fry's service is atrocious. I showed the ad to the sales(?) clerk who gave me the wrong form, which I took to the cashier. They tried to charge me $120 bucks or something. I said no, it was onsale. They went and got the ad...different part #. Same thing with a laser mouse...30 minuets latter it was all straightened out.

I put up with it for the price, but each time I swear I'll never go back to Fry's.

It was Friday's all Bay Area ad, 6 pages or so . Grand reopening of one of their stores or something and good at any bay area store. I saw it in the Contra Costa times but I'm think it was in all the papers. (It's online somewhere but I'm at a different computer and don't have the link for ya.)

Drango, you are probably talking about Kingston's "value" line of PC3200 which was on sale at fry's for 79.99 - 20 rebate = $59.99.
Dude, this deal at outpost is for the HyperX memory, which is a special very fast memory, which costs a lot more normally. You didn't get the HyperX for $57, did you ?

If I had to choose between paying $60 for the "value" ram, and paying $80 for HyperX, I would go for the HyperX.

LOL...Truth be told I only wanted 2100...I went with the 3200 without worring about the HyperX or not. I'm sure I got the cheaper stuff. Frankly at my level, I don't understand the difference. What I do understand is my wife harping on me about Frontpage being slow

As I posted in the original thread, the rebate is very suspect and it should not be counted upon, especially considering Outpost's reputation. If it comes in, it will be a bonus. I look at it as potentially free shipping.

Do you understand why a BMW 330 costs more than 325 ? I wouldn't pay more than $50 for basic PC3200 memory like what you got, which I consider a so-so deal. But the HyperX memory is (a) has fast timings which improve performance, as well as compatibility with certain integrated video boards and (b) it's overclockable by about 25% - 40%. So $80 for the HyperX model is a good deal. Your $60 deal (or $57 as you claim somehow) is (a) well known and posted before and (b) not so great a deal.

Sure I understand there is a difference...Still I did shop around and $60 for value 512 stick seemed good to me. For example...here is Neweggs sale today http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-141-424&depa=0 $80 bucks and the cheapest 512 I saw on Newegg for nonbrand 512 stick was $71...

I take your word it is not a great deal. Sorry I posted my experience, I wasn't trying to suggest it was a hot deal for anyone. It WAS good for me and I'm out of this thread

Yeah, it could LOOK good to you as someone which is just spot-shopping for memory and chooses what seems to be the best deal on a specific day. But if you look at the trend, ddr memory prices are falling even faster that what is suggested by the current rebates and discounts because retailers want to keep the profit for themselves. Before the end of the year, you'll be able to get 1GB for less than $100, maybe even $75, and $50 by middle of next year, just like what happened to flash memory prices.

I have hyper X chips in my system. Rather disapointed since I got an early revision. Was supposed to be 2-2-2-5. Wont run less then 2-3-2-6 on my gigabyte 8knxp which is a top of the line 875p motherboard. I like keeping my ram matching though so I was looking for more 3200 hyper X. Still this outpost deal is limit 1.... whats up with that.
