512 v 1gb RAM

When playing games and normal use with up to date components, what performance will 1gb of ram give over 512mb?

it depends on the specs you have and the games you play.

Games anything from NFSU2 to Doom 3 and HL 2

You likely won't gain FPS, but the game will be smoother because it doesn't have to swap to the hard drive as much.

with a system like that 1 gb is a must so you dont risk being bottlenecked.

having 45 processes running is different then 45 programs open. if you had 45 programs open i guarentee it wouldnt be that smooth...

yeah far cry and hl2 ran not very nicely at all for me when i had 512mb... 1gig yay 100% smooth :>

512 v 1gig is so yesterday, it should become 1gb vs 2gb sometime soon.
