512 mb pc 2700 ram running at 66% idle

hey
I am running win xp with 512 mb pc 2700 ram running at 66% usage idle. Is this normal cause I hear that WinXp drains alot of ram. Of course more is always better but will more be worth it pricewise.

thanks.

That's depends. If you do a lot of gaming, you'll see a nice performance gain from more RAM. Otherwise, if all you use it for is typical desktop usage (word processing, email, browsing, etc.), then you're probably fine.

I think you might want to check to see if there's any spyware/adware running on your computer. Download Spybot or Adaware SE and run a scan of your system. 1GB is worth it, for example, CS:S runs about 700MB RAM. If you're using 512MB you'll experience some lag.

Don't be concerned about how much RAM you have free/used. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. You should pay more attention to how your everyday programs feel.
