512 MB Cas2 PC3000 for $74 + Free Shipping

I was just looking around for deals on RAM and I found this "hidden" deal at OCSystem.com. I don't know if anybody has ever posted this deal before. Look for OCSystem 256MB PC3000 366MHz DDR SDRAM CL2.5/ CAS 2.5 under their DDR RAM section. On the bottom of the page you will see two upgrades. Choose the one that says OCSystem 512 MB PC3000 Cas2 for $9. If you want to choose the Copper Heat Spreader Upgrade. At first I thought how can this be possible 512 MB PC3000 with a heat spreader but I waited till the Ram came in, I installed it and it runs perfectly fine.

By the way if anyone has used this ram before would you mind telling me which chips they use Micron, Infieon, Samsung etc. I don't want to take off the Heat Spreader to find out which chips they use. Thanks.

How's this for my first hot deals post. 🙂

isn't this company listed very very low in Resellerratings.com?

Just checked... yep.. Reseller Rating of 2.08/10 :Q

Call me crazy but when a first timer posts a first deal for a site that nobody is aware of, I tend to be a tad skeptical. Call it for yourself though.

sorry, generic ram isnt on the top of my list

when stuff goes to hell, i'll have micron or samsung take care of me, not some fly by nighters

If this is legit, even for generic it's a heck of a deal.... where the heck is that $10 coupon coming from??????? I can't seem to find it. Worth a shot at $64 hehe It's probably a typo, the upgrade is likely supposed to be to CAS2 256mb for $9... not up to cas2 and upgrade to 512mb 🙂 Still, if the n00b got it... I'm tempted.

You would be wise to stay FAR FAR away from OCsystem.com, I've heard horror stories about that site that would make your hair curl. Stay away from shady fly-by-night website prices that are too good to be true if you know what's good for you. If you thought OCZ was bad, they got nothing on OCsystem.com. Run away!! RUN AWAY!!!

OCZ and OCsystem.com are both bad. why? cuz i think they are one and the same company!

Quote from OCsystem's policy:

"OCSystem.com reserve rights to cancel any order without reason and is not responsible for any typographical errors. Shipping and handling fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. 20% restocking fees may apply to ALL returns."

2 observations:

From their policy, they can cancel any order for any reason. So if they don't like
the sound of my name they have the right to cancel my order.

Also, they can make money just from the 20% restocking fee alone. They made it
clear that the 20% restocking fee if for all returns by spelling it in all caps.
I would hate to lose $20 (20% of $74 + $5.20 shipping) if they shipped me a defective piece of memory!
No thanks! I don't buy from a company with a shaddy policy like that.

It's a very obvious mistake. Those that try this are just asking for trouble, especially with OCSystem's terrible rep. So don't come back here and cry and moan when 256MB shows up, because you know it's a price error.

OCZ Tech is a memory manufacturer with sales offices located in Portage, Indiana and Santa Clara, California. Ocsystem.com is a retailer located in Industry, California. I don't see the connection.

The people who order it shouldn't cry but you(xenolith) can already cry about it , jeesshhhh

First off, OCZ doens't manufacturer their ram, they just rebadge it. Secondly, THese two companies look exactly the same, and seeing as how dishonest OCZ is know to be, what does it matter if their addresses are different? I'd stay away from this one...

Ok, maybe your first clue to stay away should be the fact that they can't HIRE someone to correct all the glaring English grammatical errors on their page.

Dorkboy, lmk when/if you get your ram...I'm interested if I'm missing out on a really good deal.

I actually had to read the resellerratings for this company to make myself not buy it....lol...

All the negative commentary and resellerratings.com has made me balk like a 20 year old pitcher on his first mound in the big leagues. Too good to be true ====> usually is.... I'll keep scrimping and wishing for the sure thing later on. I sure hope DorkBoy gets his... I'll be the first one going "DOH!" and cursing the fact that I didn't order.

OCZ is a company that "hand-picks the top chips" from lots of nanya, micron, samsung, etc, and puts them on a PCB and sells them. They often get significantly higher than generic nanya, micron, samsung, etc, but getting anything above their rated speed(and sometimes getting the rated speed) is chancy.

OCZ, Overclockerz.com, AbilityWholesale, and a slew of others are all different names for probably the shadiest internet hardware vendor out there. They have literally dozens of names, all with low reseller ratings. OCZ the vendor and OCZ the manufacturer(sort of) are at this time totally seperate entities, even if it perhaps began life as one company.
