I saw a list that also had the HTC Leo and got excited. That phone looks amazing with the 4.3 wvga screen. Too bad it's wm6.5. I'm waiting for a similar phone for Android. Until then I'll stick with my G1.

The HTC Leo is 6.5, but word on the street is that T-Mobile USA is going to get that phone but with Android.

I would cry repost but I know the search doesnt work very well.
Also your list is a little better than the one I found.

Overall I think this is good, much like Linux becoming more popular we (the consumers) will have more options available to us. A minor downside is with all the customizing it may be difficult to pick an Android distro thats best for yourself, but at least you'll have choices, something the cell phone market has been sorely lacking.

EDIT:
I'd also like to say that I love LG hardware but their OS's arent spectacular and neither are their UI's. I'd love to see Android on one or two of their phones.

I also like the idea of an Android based netbook provided it had a built-in GPS and navigation software. I hated using my phone as a navigator cuz its too small and difficult for serious trip planning. My in-dash unit just plain stinks. I have a free version of Microsoft Streets and Trips from ACM, but I still need a USB GPS unit for my laptop. I'd prefer if it were built-in.

Yup, I think once the Android has true multi-tasking (similar to webOS) and the UI is fine tuned, it'll be hard to beat.

The day I can walk in to T-Mobile and walk out with the Leo hardware with Android/Sense UI is the day my iPhone goes bye-bye.

Acer's already got a Snapdragon-powered Android phone (the Liquid, in Europe) so I can't imagine HTC is too far behind. Not sure if the rumors about an Android Leo are true but even if they're not I have to think a US carrier will have something similar in the next six months or so.

Trust me, Im wishing just as bad as you are. I've owned the G1 and Mytouch. I've used the Cliq extensively. If there is one thing all three of these phones lack its the hardware to really take advantage of android. Sure, you can cook some roms rip out a bunch of extras and get these phones running pretty damn smooth. But once you start loading up on widgets and other apps, it becomes absolutely crucial to have advanced task killer and to kill stuff often. A 1ghz processor with some extra RAM would be amazing.

I never understood why you need TRUE multitasking on a cell phone. Its a CELL PHONE! Its not like you (the user) can actually do multiple things on it at one time.
On my computer I have the ability (with enough RAM and CPU power) to rip a DVD, encode a video, burn a CD (if I have multiple drives), file share, OCR scan, print, and watch movies, all at once.
But I never need to.
Why the heck would I need multiple things going on with my cellphone when I can really only see and interact with one thing at a time anway?
Make a call and send photos at the same time? I can do that sure, and thats more than enough functionality considering I've never done it. Make a call and navigate with GPS? Can do that too, but not a smart idea. Already enough distractions on the road. Make a call and listen to music? Sure, but why on earth would you want to?
Everything I can think of comes down to making a call and doing something else that doesnt require so much attention it distracts me from the call. And I can already do those things.

EDIT:
Sorry, thats only half the argument. The other half is that Android swaps out between programs so quickly that I dont need true multitasking. And with widgets I can get all the constant use items running pretty much constantly. Things like my inbox, weather and news headlines are always there for me, all at once.
And again since its a phone its not like I personally can interact with all those things at the exact same time anyway. My attention shifts from one to the other as I need more info.

Say you're on a website looking for a phone number. Well, you can switch to the phone app and make a call without losing your place in the browser. Or someone asks you for someone's phone number, e-mail address, etc.. You can switch to your contacts and pull up that information. Or say you're downloading a large file, you can switch to another app while its downloading.

THIS.
for those who never multitasks on a phone, u wouldnt know what u r missing. on my palm pre. i can talk, pull up a game to play, jump over to email, flip back to the game, pull up a website on wifi, ALL simultaneously. for some reason, apple convinced the mass multitasking isnt necessary. all the while other smartphones easily multitask years ago.

Android does multitask. I can switch between apps/games/calls and keep its place in all the apps just fine. I can play games and switch to browser. I can switch back and forth and it'll be wherever I left it. My browser currently have a few windows positioned at where I left it this afternoon. It can download in the background. I can do things while on a call.

The times it will exit a background program are when it needs more memory.

I had a Pre, it did not impress me, not even the multitasking.
In fact the way they did multitasking was way too slow and clunky. Too many presses and slides and stuff. I much prefer the G1's trackball and dedicated buttons.

Running AIM, browsing the Internet, taking notes, and listening to a podcast at the same time? Kinda nice.

Its one touch/slide to put the app into card view. One slide to get rid of the app. That's pretty minimal to me.
