Stopped at the K-Mart by my office on the way in and got two spindles. The store only had TEN on the shelf! Funny thing is there was another guy there looking for the Fujis! Spoke very little english and didn't respond when I mentioned 'Anandtech Hot Deals'.😉

Not to thread crap, but a word of advice: If you want to get something at K-Mart that's on sale, you better plan on being at the store when it opens on the first day of the sale. I've completely given up on them out of frustration. The last time they had oil on sale (having missed out on the previous sale by coming the second day) I went at noon. They were sold out of course.

K-Mart will give you a raincheck, which I've done several times. They never got the product back in store, but will instead offer you a small discount on any product in that department.

This wouldn't be the store in Palm Bay. FL would it?? Or for that matter... any of them in Central Florida? Or, when they do have it you get overcharged...

You actually just said ''Anandtech Hot Deals'?!? ha ha...

<<"You actually just said ''Anandtech Hot Deals'?!? ha ha...">>

Sure! He and I were the only ones in the electronics department minutes after the store opened. Couldn't find the Fujis initially. When he did (and told me in very broken english, Polish I think) he called me over and we both immediately turned a spindle over. I pointed to 'made in japan' and he nodded. 'T-Y' ? and he nodded. 'Anandtech Hot Deals'? ....blank stare..... oh well.😉

Pretty funny dudleydocker. Well I got woken up this morning at 8:20am PST and am still debating on stopping by Kmart, really hope they don't let me down. Even though I only have (5) blank Fuji's left to use here. Think I will go.

Never Kmart again! No stock at all at 9:00am PST... no labels anywhere indicating they might have had stock at some point. Oh I hate my Kmart and Sears stores.

Well, these Fuji's are going like fire... Went to local Kmart before college, had to wait 20 minutes in the car till the store opened. When I went there, there was already one guy looking for Fuji's, we couldn't find them at first cuz they weren't with the rest of the CD-Rs, but I found them hidden at the right corner of the electronics department... I bought one spindle, the guy bought two, a minute later some lady came over and also bought one. There were about 4-6 spindles left on the shelve, I expect they are all gone now 😀

Kmart here only had 4.

All made in Japan. 2 with screw on tops marked "1x to 24x" speed. 2 without screw on tops marked "up to 48x" speed.

Guess the 2 I bought.😀

aren't the 24x capable of higher speeds anyhow? When BesyBuy had them cheap in October (about the time we first saw the new packaging) there were stickers over the screwcapped 24x's that said 40x, I think. Does anyone else remember this?

I know it was early, but.....😱

I used the online submission the last 3 times, no help. When it shows approved online 6 weeks ago, I'd kinda figured I'd have the check by now. I'll have to call 'em up and rattle their chain a little 🙂

I just stopped by my local K-Mart. There are still 16 spindles left. Some are the "screwey" ones marked 24x. Most are the newer 48x ones with no screws. All made in Japan.

Looks like nobody has even bothered to dusturb this particular K-Mart's collection of CD-R spindles. Everything (all brands) looks the same it did last Sunday.

What I am wondering about is the Emtec spindles they have there. Those are made by BASF. Are they any good? With Fujis being on sale, why do I bother with an unknown brand? I am just curious.

No, it was the central Connecticut stores I was talking about. But from reading this thread, I do not predict a successful Chapter 11 reorganization for K-Mart.

I picked up a pack at a local K-Mart... 48x speed and these are the FIRST CDs that actually burned at 40x in my drive. 🙂

I'll give you guys a hint - go to the K-Marts in the ... er... "less computer oriented" parts of town. The one I stopped at 7:00pm had at least 5-6 left on the shelves - I would have bought 2 packs, but I've been so pissed at other "48x" brands that my drive will only burn at 12x.

I went to the one on Northgate in Sac and they only had 1 spindle left. Grabbed an ad, went next door to Fry's, got their ass of a manager to finally give me a PM on 6.

fleshconsumed is right about these being hidden. Dropped by my local K-mart and didn't find them where'd you'd expect them to be - with the rest of the CD-Rs (Maxells). I thought they'd sold out and was about to walk out when I decided to ask an employee if he could check if they had any more in stock. He told me to go check over by electronics. Sure enought there they were. Picked up two 48x spindles.

Thanks allisolm, I do hate rebates (especially Best Buy's).
