I'm debating between this and the Ballistix 2gig 6400 sticks for my DS3+E4300 build, but I'm worried with memory compatibility and how well either ram will do.

the ballistix run at a higher voltage than these but i think are cl4.

these are cl5 but probably 1.8 v based on the data sheet from pqi.

i would figure these could do cl4 at 2.2 volt as well like ballistix and cost a bit less (smaller rebate too). i doubt you could go wrong either way.

hell just buy both.

lol thanks for the advice!

Just received mine. Removed my old ram, popped these in, set everything to default in the BIOS, and started running memtest. Failed within the first 5 minutes. So much for getting a good deal...

did just a little digging.. someone posted these should boot vista at 1.8v but will have memtest errors at that voltage.. fine at 2.0v.
Hmm... didn't see this before. I will bump up my voltage and see how it goes.

Tried it at 2.1v and it still fails memtest. RMA time....

My set is running at DDR800, 1.8V, CAS 5. Memtest error free. The SPD seems to indicate these modules being capable of CAS 4 timings. Will give that a try next.

Someone suggested I try manually changing the timings, but at this point, I don't want to bother anymore. I think I just got a bad stick (or two).

hmmmm mine wont work on my intel brand d946gz board. they do work fine on a cheaper foxconn 945gz board . wont even boot on the intel, but passes memtest fine on the foxconn. i guess the intel doesnt like the spd. awful.

maybe ill have to buy a new board.

EDIT:

weird, all i did was clear the cmos, and it worked. cool happy with the ram now.
