That place looks as legit as those "Send us your Paypal username and password so we can verify your account" type emails.

good price, but I never trust a power supply if I never heard of the brand.
Anyone use a Sofistic power supply before?
edit:
The $9 one says Duro on the side, but goes to the Sofistic web site too what gives?

"I've had an identical situation. I hooked up a "DURO" 400w power supply to a new motherboard, new AMD Duron 800, and it blew with such an explosion that blue sparks could be seein through the vents in the power supply and the smell of burning plastic was so bad I had to open up the windows in the house and turn on some fans. A comsumer complaint and possible class action suit should be filed against DURO."

think twice before you order. Is your health worth saving a few bucks.

$9 for a secondary or old computer is not bad. No need to spend alot to protect a system that is cheap to replace.

antec 350 watt for $29.95 from antec online store linky
I know its not 500 watts and a bit more expensive, but I have 4 antecs and never had one fail after 3 years of use.
My experiences with no name ones are pretty bad. Mostly they die within 1 year.

If you need 500 watts, you probably have alot of very expensive parts in your system.

and antec's 300w would be more than this so... like the man said, when things aren't adding up - spend your money elsewhere! 0r at least where they know how to add and subtract ;)
