As title says, Frys.com has the Maxtor MXT 7H500F0 for $109.99 with free shipping.

edit-deal dead, now $119.99 with free shipping

edit-the price seems to be fluctuating get it at $109.99 while you can

I would jump on this but I have 2 500 WD's and I would prefer not to mix brands :\ Guess I can wait a bit longer for prices to dop.

Is it me or have HDD prices gotten ridiculously low? I haven't been in the market for a large HD in a while but I see lots of deals for 500gb around $100 these days.

waiting for seagates to get to this pricepoint. 🙁

Me too. I'm so happy disks are getting cheap. Now if only they could get (a lot) faster in terms of seek time.

Any chance these are rebadged Seagates? The last 300GB Maxtors I ordered from Outpost ended up being 320GB 7200.10s

seagate owns maxtor and these OEM drivers are Maxline pros with 5yr warranty with seagate/maxtor... and I wouldn't be surprised if they were seagates, but not sure.

I just snatched one from frys online. I will update everyone on the warranty to be more clear. I should receive it this friday but if someone get its their's before me, update us on the warranty or if you magically get a seagate.

FYI. newer maxtor drives are now manufactured by Seagate using perpendicular technology. I passed this 500gb deal and went for 2 maxtor $49 200gb sata300 drives to use for raid. The drives I bought are rebranded seagate 7200.10's.

eggs link says 3 years warranty on OEM maxtors
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144016

a very good portion of newegg's warranty listings are incorrect.
note- one of the reviewers from the link you sent said:
"Pros: This is my second one purchased, both have been very fast, easy to install and thus far 1 mth very reliable. Both of mine came with 5 year warranties as checked on the Maxtor/Seagate sites warranty checker utility."

not all new maxtor drives are rebadged seagates. some people have reported this drive as being a real maxtor.

How do you tell if they are rebadged?

FYI- just got 2 in- they were double boxed - drives came in special Frys oem tight pack boxes that apparently Maxtor/Seagate did special for them (assuming Frys would never take the time or money to invest in oem boxing them themselves). The drive checked on seagates site with warranty till: 25-Feb-2012
The drive's manufacture date is 21-aug-2006. So these are OLD stock being clearanced -so get them at this price while you can if the price drops are in fact low only to clear old stock.
PS- these look like straight up maxtors, dont think are seagates.

Curious how to check online for warranty info.

Google "7H500F0 Warranty" and you'll find that these are business-class MaxLine Pro's with a 5 year warranty.
