At this point I may just wait to see how much a 5000 series AMD Threadripper costs. 5950x still in short supply.
I was disappointed in the 3970x low single / few core boost, but it is not as big a deal as it fixed issues with NUMA being a central distribution core and still has fairly decent all core frequency. I just don't want to buy last gen tech...
I hope the 5970x or whatever is more available due to the high cost, it most likely won't be in demand for gamers? I don't think I really need it for my side hobby much anymore as AMD has done so well in pushing more cores that for video and audio loads the cost to performance has been amazing improvements since Zen 1 even.
A Zen 3 Ripper even at 24 or 32 cores should work very well for my needs and DC will benefit greatly during the colder climate months in my abode... I just hope for 1 or 2 cores it boosts close to 4.8 or more.
