I gotta ask.....would someone actually pay $300+ for a set of sheets like these?

even $80 seems high, but I'll be 1st to admit I don't know much about sheets....

Thanks Joker.. :)

To answer your question Souka, yes many people will pay $300 and more for good sheets. Once I switched to 300 count+ sheets I will not go back to anything less. I am going to grab a set of these if they are still around on Monday.

"500 count sheet set"? Isn't that called a ream? And doesn't Office Dump carry them for like $8? ;)

Seriously, I prefer flannel, so these won't help me.

Matching pillowcases not included ($20 extra), and SOLD OUT (though, the sheets are still there).

(By the way, I've seen similar items including pillowcases at Sam's Club periodically for around the same price.)

I picked up some 100% cotton 300 count sheets from smartbargains for $40 several months ago. I had been using cotton/polyester mix sheets. The new ones were more confortable but they have started "balling up". Thousands of little tiny balls are forming. Is this normal or did I get some cheap cotton sheets?

I've got 270 count sheets and they don't ball up. Very cozy and soft too, but I paid regular price at BB&B tho.

hahaha so did I. :D I thought it was going to be 500 sheets of glossy print paper for $79 or something like that. This is a great deal tho but maybe cheap sheets ball up...if thats going to be the case they aren't worth it.

I've got some high thread count (300? 350?) sheets and haven't experienced this "balling up" that you describe. Every time I see one of these posts, I check out the website/offer, think about it and then pass on the deal. I feel like I need to actually touch the sheets before buying them.

Even going to multiple dept stores I can feel the difference between various brands of 350-TC 100% cotton sheets. Some are better than others and almost inevitably the higher priced ones are just simply softer. I'm sure that at least one of the many high-TC sheet deals I've seen in the last 6-months is really a great deal, but I'd hate to spend even $50 for high TC sheets that ended up being low quality.

A Bud of mine was a regional manager for Linens and Things awhile back and he talked me
through my buying of sheets.
The Balling up is not caused by low thread count. It is in fact caused by a high Polyester count.
If the sheets are better then 60% Cotton (Higher the better) then balling up should be of little problem.
Most sheets 200 Thread count and over 60% cotton will be decent.
I have different types and my current favorite is a 275 Thread count 100% Cotton sheet I got at
Filene's on sale for $20 for the bottom fitted only.

500 Thread count seems a bit exesive, but if I had the money I would try them.

Anybody know if washing these suckers make them lose their softness? I'm afraid to put mine in the washing machine.

I have 300 tc sheets from Polo and I feel like I must have been sleeping on asphalt before.

I'm curious if the 500 and 600 tc sheets will feel better than a name brand 300 tc.

On the subject of sheets, I recently purchased 310 TC Sateen sheets from overstock.com (based on the reviews there). They are very nice, they also have 600 TC Sateen sheets with pillow cases for $99.99. The have a broad selection of thread counts with reviews.
