I currently have a 'decent' previous budget system from 1.5 years ago:
AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition 2.8Ghz
(4th core unlocked and OC'd to 3.4Ghz)
Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-E
ASUS M4A78T-E Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Cooler Master 212 Plus Heatsink
Seagate 1.5TB
Some DVD drive which I never use
1. Unfortunately it struggles to play Dota 2 (I'm in Beta) and SC2 only in medium setting. I merely want to play them at max and smooth (60-80+ fps).
2. Range is $450-550.
3. Buy from USA, I'm in NYC.
4. No brand preference, anything that gets the most bang for the buck.
5. I'm going to sell that system entirely on CL to aid in helping the budget. So, I just need a new tower. I have KB/Mouse/Monitor/Speakers/etc.
6. I haven't yet. I will soon.
7. If I can OC it with minimal investment ($20-30 cooling), why not- just like my current system. But it has to be worth it like unlocking additional core and yielding real-world improvement.
8. Games will be played in 1080p.
9. Build now and next few weeks, willing to wait if a big price break is on horizon.
Additional info: The previous budget system was cheap because I got a nice case for $20 and power supply was free. So I'm gonna need to really trim the fat...
Also I'm under the impression Dota 2 (Source engine) and Starcraft II focus more on CPU, not GPU... can anyone confirm?
Thanks for your help!
