It is a truism that we are know by the company we keep.

So it is with endorsements in a political campaign. Some are held close, others are distanced.

It is striking that endorsements from military leaders are running 100-1 in Romney's favor.

Haven't all of these military leaders heard that Obama killed Osama?

Obama is endorsed by General Colin Powell, USA (ret.), General Wesley Clark, USA (ret.), Major General Paul Eaton, USA (ret.), Admiral Donald Gutter, USN, former JAG of the Navy (ret.), Admiral John Nathman, USN (ret.).

Romney, on the other hand, is endorsed by Admiral James B. Busey, USN (ret.), General James T. Conway, USMC (ret.), General Terrence R. Dake, USMC (ret.), Admiral James O. Ellis, USN (ret.), General Ronald R. Fogleman, USAF (ret.), General Tommy Franks, USA (ret.), General Alfred Hansen, USAF (ret.), Admiral Thomas Bibb Hayward, USN (ret.), General Chuck Albert Horner, USAF (ret.), Admiral Jerome LaMarr Johnson, USN (ret.), Admiral Timothy J. Keating, USN (ret.), General Paul X. Kelley, USMC (ret.), General William Kernan, USA (ret.), Admiral George E.R. Kinnear II, USN (ret.), General William L. Kirk, USAF (ret.), General James L. Lindsay, USA (ret.), General William R. Looney III, USAF (ret.), Admiral Hank Mauz, USN (ret.), General Robert Magnus, USMC (ret.), Admiral Paul David Miller, USN (ret.), General Henry Hugh Shelton, USA (ret.), General Lance Smith, USAF (ret.), Admiral Leighton Smith, Jr., USN (ret.), and the list goes on and on.

500 ADMIRALS AND GENERALS ENDORSE GOV. ROMNEY

by AWR HAWKINS 5 Nov 2012, 5:05 AM PDT

As I wrote yesterday, military endorsements for Gov. Romney outnumber those for Obama by 100 to 1. And today, a shining example of the military's support for Romney comes in the form of a Washington Times ad in which 500 former admirals and generals endorse the GOP candidate for president.

The ad bears the headline: "We, the undersigned, proudly support Governor Mitt Romney as our nation's next President and Commander-in-Chief." It is then followed by the names of the 500 former military figures announcing their endorsement.

One of those 500, Rear Admiral (ret.) James J. Carey, released this important caveat concerning the ad:

It is important that you're aware that this is not an ad being paid for by the Romney Campaign. Rather, it is being paid for and placed by the 500 of us who have agreed to have our names in this public ad and to take a public stand on how very important it is that our fellow Americans choose a new Commander-in-Chief in the elections this coming Tuesday.

Please vote on Tuesday, NOT because of revenge for something, but because of "Love of Country."

God bless our military, and God bless these 500 brave souls who understand that the foreseeable future of our military will be decided by who emerges victorious on Tuesday.

Good thing most of them are warriors of the cold war and their ideas failed horribly for the war on terror.

Not when most are 60+-year-old males who've voted straight-ticket Republican for decades.

Mitt has also promised to increase military spending, even though it will increase the deficit.

Wow, you mean the military that Romney wants to increase the size/funding of supports him?

Unbelievable, who'd da thunk that..?

Good thing they fought the cold war to protect your candy ass.

If the cold war had been decided by those idiots we'd probably all be dead. It was the people with the balls to stand up to those higher ups who saved us from a nuclear holocaust.

Lol! They fought in the cold war?

How fucking stupid can you be?
Google "Korean War" and "Vietnam War".

Sorry, that was cruel. Have a competent person Google "Korean War" and "Vietnam War".

Yes, the Cold War was at times a very hot shooting war, even though most of the time it was fought with espionage and military force development rather than with bullets.

There is only one military endorsement that has any impact in this election.

Obama got it from Powell. :(

Should change thread title to reflect reality, 500 RETIRED Admirals, and Generals endorse whatever Republican is running.

James B. Busey was until recently on the board of directors for the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, "the largest aircraft manufacturer in the United States at the end of World War II, but has evolved to largely become a component manufacturer, specializing in actuators, aircraft controls, valves, and metal treatment."

James T. Conway is on the board of directors for Textron, "an American industrial conglomerate that includes Bell Helicopter, Cessna Aircraft Company, and Greenlee, among others. With total revenues of $11.3 billion, and approximately 32,000 employees in 29 countries, Textron is currently ranked 236th in the 2012 issue of the Fortune 500, a list that ranks the largest companies in the United States."

Those were the two first names on Romney's list. Now certainly board membership does not equal nefarious intent, but the current employment status of all of these men and women might warrant a look to understand the bias at play.
