I would think it's a hell of a lot easier to control smaller bodies of water, but the ocean itself? How are you not kinda fucked there?

I mean it’s not like I’m saying it’s a simple fix but when you have an area like New York with a GDP of over $1 trillion annually people tend to find ways to make it work.

There's a few other cities that are similar, last time I was in Charleston SC there was a light rain happening, literally parts of the city were knee-deep in water.

All coastal cities aren’t the same either. Some are only at sea level close to the shore. So with those you’d only have to slowly raise or protect a portion.

For example ozone depletion was a peril to life! It became less of an issue because of the Montreal Protocol, which was fantastically successful at addressing the problem! Acid rain DOES kill life in lakes, but the EPA under GHWB implemented an emissions trading program that drastically reduced sulfur emissions and other things that cause acid rain.

That's extremely dishonest. You did not address what you quoted. I'd think a retired geologist would have a much better understanding of deep time & how life itself changed the atmosphere of the planet during the carboniferous & more recent epochs.. A great deal of atmospheric CO2 was sequestered in the earth, having a huge yet very gradual impact of the climate. Concentrations have been low & relatively stable for 800K years. After 200 years of intensifying use of fossil fuels, we're already off the chart relative to that & spiking much higher very quickly. The notion that humanity will somehow escape the effects of that is patently absurd.

He's a geologist in Tx. His primary job was making money for oil execs, not understanding how our planet works.
