I actually like the new design a lot better than the previous one, which always looked kind of like a dustbuster to me

Yeah, as much as I like the old design aesthetics, there's also something to be said for airbags, crumple zones, etc.

And what's amazing is

1 - That they're able to bring a car that looks that much more massive in at a reasonable weight. What does weight, 400 lbs more than the original?

2. - That the base power of the low end models is more than many of the performance models of the day.

If I had to dive it I'd want the new one. But it looks like a 2 door Fusion. I think Ford has gone too far trying to give all their cars the same front grill.

No one is ever going to confuse a Mustang for a Fusion. There are similarities, but The overall look is still distinctly Mustang.

It's even more evident when looking at them in person. I picked up a 2015 GT Premium in November. I absolutely love everything about the car so far. The fist comment most friends have made about the car is that "it looks mean!"

It has been a pleasure to drive. I even drove it through the winter! Ok, I swapped out the wheels with a similar set of rims and some Blizzaks, but It handled the New England winter surprisingly well. Better than my last car. A 2012 focus with all seasons.

Apples and oranges. I prefer the looks and simplicity of older cars. There's a whole lot less to break down. Not to mention the one point that seals the question for me in terms of preference. The older version could be purchased by a young kid working a minimum wage job. Find me ONE new car that can be bought working a minimum wage job now.

That's arguably more of a minimum-wage problem.

Anyway, what most stands out to me is how huge new cars are. More efficient? Sure, but also huge.

I didn't realize that the early mustangs were that light. I was thinking they weighed about the same as the Camaros, #3300ish

automakers (particularly american) have resisted any major improvement since the beginning of time, because cranking out crap has a larger profit margin.

+1, the nose on the '15 is one ugly snout. I know they perform light-years better than a '66 and are much safer with every creature-comfort and electronic convince but daam, that's one fugly bitch.

the price of an old car is less than new because they have far less real value, i.e. they're worse in every way. that's what a minimum wage job gets you - things that are worse than other things.
