50+ year-old woman kills attacker in self-defense

So we're into post 400+ now. Has anyone yet made a rational argument which would convince a person why they should let some kill them?

I don't think anyone's making that point.

Don't look now, but there is this british guy here that says this lady should have been arrested. He believes that her shooting the assailant was a worse crime than letting the assailant rape and possibly murder her.

I'm impressed with this lady's self defense acumen. Had she used a .45 ACP, he'd have dropped in place, bleeding all over her good carpet and no doubt fouling himself. Using a .22 meant that he ran outside and THEN died, where the mess can be hosed off.

The man threatened her with a deadly weapon, detained her, forced her into a bedroom. (Ironic considering that's where her gun was.) Merely breaking in to someone's home and being armed constitutes a deadly threat, but this had already escalated to kidnapping and was clearly headed for rape and probably murder. Had his intent been robbery only he would have taken her offer of money and saved his own life. As we say in Tennessee, he needed killin'.

Hope her neighbors bring her fried chicken and turnip greens for cleaning up the neighborhood.

Yep, that's me.

Yep, that's me.

So... Your not denying that you think it would have been better for this lady to let herself be raped and most likely killed.. Which is where the statement you had so questions over came from. You are advocating that if a person threatens you and you believe they are going to kill you, that you should essentially roll over and let it happen.

What other options did this lady have? You haven't presented one good option this lady could have taken that most likely would have end in both surviving the encounter unscathed. All your solutions would have lead to the victim being victimized and the attacker getting away scott free.

It doesn't matter if you disagree, it's my opinion.

Fixed

1) It depends what you mean by better.
2) I've never said that you should roll over and let it happen, I definitely don't think that.

I wasn't there, neither were you, you can't tell me what outcomes would have resulted from other options being taken and neither can I.

And yet you will condemn the woman anyway when she was not the one who caused the situation. That is what is so despicable about your position.

It doesn't matter what some internet guy in Europe thinks on the situation. We are just being trolled. We know the outcome is that no charges will ever be filed.

I regret feeding into it earlier in the thread, I should have known better.

This thread is still going?

So he was going to kill her?

He's attacking her with a knife. What do you think, he just wanted to say hello in some strange way? 😵

Don't know about you, but if someone is attacking me with a lethal weapon, it would seem logical that they have intention to kill.

Honestly I agree with many others - you're here just to troll.

I don't think anyone's making that point.

That's a curious thing, it seems that she's to blame for not letting herself be killed by using force proportional to the threat.

Essentially the idea then is that she can protect herself, but should be harassed and be financially ruined for not breaking a law.

Option 1) He was going to kill her.
Option 2) He wasn't going to kill her.
Option 3) She didn't know what he was going to do.

Pick one, beyond a reasonable doubt, what did she know.
