Edit #2: Well my cpu is a dud. I was only able to get it to boot up once with ACC on Auto. It still showed 2x cores in Windows and CPUz as well.

In fact, it won't boot with any kind of ACC enabled. So far using auto ocing it gives a stable 2640mhz (2.2 is stock). But either way, its dissapointing to me. At least others are getting them to unlock ok.

Edit #3: I've done some ocing and can get 3.6ghz @ 1.45v. It won't be stable unless I lower the uncore very low. The nb/uncore is the weaklink for these cpu's it appears. Thats probably why AMD has the stock nb @ 1.6ghz instead of 2ghz. It starts acting up when the uncore gets around or past 2ghz.

I've set the core clock to 3.5ghz and this keeps the uncore @ 1.9ghz and its nice and stable (So far that is). Still, 1300mhz oc is not to shabby!

Here is the 3.6ghz CPUz validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=770667

I just ordered one from newegg.com for $54 shipped. They are AM2+ ONLY though. Will NOT run DDR3.

Edit: There are real unlocks out there! _ Here is alot more info and Successful Unlocks.. (Thanks R00kie for the link)

Check out this link for unlocking info!

Check out this link if you want to buy! Be sure to use this coupon code to get $5 off. - EMCMLMP49

I will post some info when I get mine in on Thurs or Fri.

Edit: Also meant to say that the techpowerup link has an image showing it is clocked to 2.8ghz @ 1.080 vcore

sounds like idling with cool n quiet at 2.8, but still, nice to see propus coming into these lower price points.

I'm still wondering if the screenshots at techpowerup is a fake or not.

I will have one on Thursday. Hopefully it will unlock some cores. Or if its based on Regor maybe it will unlock the extra cache? :)

i don't think they are using x4 cores for these x2s. well never say never but let us know if you were able to unlock it to x4. I personally think it's a fake claim.

Anyone have a recommended 780G/785G mobo, that takes DDR2, and supports ACC? I don't have any boards that support ACC to try this out yet.

Here's a Biostar, but it lacks HDMI. I really want HDMI too. link

They're probably really bad parts that AMD is trying to get rid of. Maybe not functionally, but with terrible power characteristics. The one guy on xtreme systems has a default Vcore of 1.5V. That's awful for a 2.2GHz part.

C'nQ lowers the multiplier to x4. (which I love) The CPU would be at 1120 MHz (4x280).

@VirtualLarry: ASRock 785G board takes DDR2 and supports ACC. $59 I think.

Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H ---$80 w/ free shipping - or $100 with the Sempy.

My Sempy unlocked and clocked to over 3.8GHz before I got bored.

I have that Mobo and love it.

I will have my 5000+ x2 here tomorrow. I have a Biostar TA790GX XE mobo with acc. I still have the unlock capability since I didn't update to the newer bios. If anyone has this mobo and wants to try and unlock, then do Not use the latest bios. Biostar officially stops unlocking cpu cores/caches with that new bios.

I have the original Biostar 790gx board, is this thing able to unlock this? I currently have a x2 brisbane in it and if this truley does unlock would be a sweet cheap upgrade.

Looking forward to hearing about your results. This is quite a puzzling CPU, as nobody seems sure as to its origins. Though it seems likely that these are "left-overs" that didn't qualify for the label of any of the other Deneb-based CPUs, i'm eager for more data, as it could turn out to be quite an opportunity for ACC-based unlocking.

Also, thanks for the info about the latest Biostar BIOS being incompatible with unlocking, as i had been considering buying one of their motherboards to try it. Now i'll probably pick the Gigabyte combo if i go for it.

If you are going to try to unlock this and need a motherboard, just get the Gigabyte 785 combo for <$120. That board has all the features you'll need and is the cheapest of the combos. Not to mention Gigabyte is more reliable than the other brands.

TA790GX A2+? If so, then yes, should be able to.

Well, unfortunately mines a big fat dud. Anykind of ACC will not boot. I one time got it to boot with acc auto but it didn't show anymore than 2x cores unfortunately. The mobo isn't completely sure what the exact cpu is. Which could be one reason for no success, although I doubt it.

The latest bios for my mobo kills unlocking so flashing to the latest bios to get full cpu support won't enable unlocking either. :(

BTW, my board is a Biostar TA790gx XE. Its the micro-atx version.

On another note the cpu oc's to 2640mhz so far using the easy built-in v12 feature. Which is a decent 20% increase in clockspeed. I will of course try to see how far I can push it this weekend.

Also, this appears to be an older batch of Denebs (Maybe some pre-release versions that didn't make their mhz goal and thus did a respin to get their higher goal.). Its stock 2.2ghz with a 1600mhz nb and 2x 512kb cache. This is 45nm and runs very cool even when adding voltage.

Oh well, i'm probably Not going to buy another to try and get an unlock.

PS: If you don't want to try to unlock then I wouldn't buy this cpu. BUT, if you only have $50 then DO buy this one over a Brisbane. This one WILL be faster or just as fast as a 2.6ghz brisbane. Otherwise get a Regor dualcore.

Try disable Cool'nQuiet
mine won't boot when both were on. as soon as i turned off CnQ, it boots.

I've tried disabling coolNquiet and it still didn't make a difference.

I can get it to clock @ 3.6ghz though. Although it took some decent voltage to do so.

Its not 100% stable though because of the uncore clocking so high. I did find out that the NB-Uncore is the weak link with these cpu's. I now know why AMD clocked the nb on these to 1.6ghz instead of 2.0ghz like the others are.

Whenever the nb would go past 2ghz it would start acting up so I would raise voltage and lower the uncore multiplyer to get it under control. I don't want it to lower too much though since that controls the speed of the memory controller (If it had L3 cache it would control that as well).

So far its stable @ 3.5ghz with the nb running just over 1900mhz.

Here is mu CPUz Validation for 3.6ghz in case anyone cares. :)

Thanks for posting with your experience, Jason. I'm still on the fence as to whether i want to give it a shot.. 2 confirmed 4x unlocks at Extreme Systems at about 3.2 Ghz, and your dud. Hmm...
