50 to 60 degrees C normal for 1GHz Thunderbird?

A7V. Temp reported by Asus motherboard monitor. I'm running 52C (125F) at the moment.

My motherboard, heat sink, and processor was assembled by Monarch Computer.

The Athlons are going to be warmer then the Durons. Amd says that the processors are fine up to 90c. Not that I would recommend running them that warm. 52c is fine.

My Duron 700 O/C'd to 900 runs at 90 FARENHEIT.

MB is MSI K7T pro2
Two exhaust fans ( one in the PS and one just right next to it), one fan sucking air through the front of the case).

Heatsink/fan was bought at a computer show. Its pretty big and the fan spins at around 4700rpm.

I have a Piii 1.0ghx 133 fsb, currently running at 28 C, antec sx1030b case 4 case fans, stock heatsink, should i oc?

PIII's run cooler than Durons/Thunderbirds. O/C'ing is highly dependent on your MoBo and the CPU that you've got. My voltage is at 1.65 for the Duron at 800, it goes up to 1.7 @900.I haven't tried anything faster although I'm pretty sure it can max out at around 950-980. I had to set the voltage in the BIOS at 1.550 which comes out to 1.65 with PC Monitor and 1.575 for 1.7.

Those temps for an A7V, with 1004 and later bios' is perfectly normal.

Randum72,

i would refrain from posting your temps in comparison to other people's, especially since your mb is among the worst at temp reading and under-reads among the highest amount.

you can try but you'll probably only get it to 150fsb for your trouble!

The 90c temps that AMD specs are mis-leading. You'll never see a temp that high with the socket thermister, the cpu will burn up before that happens.

I have a 900 MHz TB "blue core" @ 1035 on a KT7-RAID using an alpha PAL6035. The idle temp readings are about 26-27 C, my full load temps are about 35-40 C. My system temps range from 20-24 C.

My CPU is still locked...eventually I'm going to unlock it and see how high I can take it.
