I've seen that outpost.com is out of stock on their cheapo Kingston CD-R's, but this deal seems ok. Only hassle is a $20 rebate, but here goes:

buy.com has the 50pk for $38.95. Purchase the cdrs before 7/31 and qualify for the $20 mail-in rebate.

rebate linkified:
pny.com http://rebate.pny.com/24051.pdf

I don't know the quality of the media, so if
anyone has info, plz post. Thanks! :)

PS - ordered the ones from outpost.com, but
they are on backorder, hopefully be here in a
week or two.

dude, I think he ment the 12x kingston ones...
which are 19.95 I think ...

search for kingston and you should find 2 types:
1. 8x 50pk 700mb $14.95
2. 12x 50pk 700mb $19.95

:)

I've never used PNY CDR's...Are they any good? I've got almost 200 megs of RAM by them, but this is the first time I've heard of their CDR...I guess I've been living in a cave. I need to drag Jane out more...:)

Every single post on PNY Media says they are SUCK. Plus they take FOREVER to send you the rebate, if at all. PNY memory is pretty good, but I would stay away from their CD-R's. I have passed on many PNY deals just from the feedback, so I am passing that on here. IMHO

I have used the 50pk PNY CD-R. My burner wrote and verified them with NO problems.

I got this 50 pk PNY spindle a couple months ago at buy.com when they were around $26, and used a $10 coupon w/ free shipping. I think they're great; play fine in both of my car CD players and never had a coaster. But for $38 with a stinking rebate I would go to outpost.

pny is picky about the stores that they will accept for the rebate. buy.com is NOT one of them.

I bought a 25-pk CDR's with 5-pk CD-RW's from Buy.com in late January and received a $10 rebate and a CD storage case from PNY. It was like 2 weeks later than the promised date for the $10 and a couple more weeks for the CD case. Who told you that they won't honor purchases from Buy.com? A CSR? How do they expect us to know if it's not listed on the rebate form?

can anyone run cdidentifier on those PNY?

for the record, the Kingston are the cheapest CDR you could buy(not a compliment), you would be lucky if you're able to play those crap in your car deck...

I have a 50 Pack of PNY Cdrs i bought from Egghead. I have to say these are BAD QUALITY!!! Even though it says 12x compatible, I've received errors using 8x and 12x. I tried to backup a PSX game 3x and the playstation wasn't able to read it. Thought it was one of those games that weren't able to backup, but tried with a TDK and there was no problem at all. I wouldn't suggest anyone buy these.

and so far, my plextor is liking the kingston too, 23 successful burns and counting

edit : i hate typos!

The PNY disks are the only ones that I have trouble with in my Alpine cd player. 90% of the time the disk just sits there. I`ve used many other kinds with no problem.

I've got a 50 spindle of PNYs 8X 80 min and my only complaint is that the data around the edge of the disc doesn't burn right sometimes. Sometimes after the 70 min mark, the sound goes to hell on some cds. No coasters though. How are the Kingston media CD-Rs?

The Pony CD's are made by two different manufacturers. One manufacturer puts out bad cd's, the other puts out good cd's. I can't remember the name of the companies at the moment, but thats the reason why some have no complaints, and others say they are the worst.

They come with the same stock numbers too, so its impossible to tell until after you get them.

You have to use the cdr identifier program to see what company makes them.

I've got the 12x PNY CDRs and they've worked great so far. No coasters. Well, there was that time I accidently unplugged the computer. :p
Haven't got the rebate yet, been about a month.

The Kingston CDRs from outpost.com rock. For about $17, you could get 50pk of quality 8x certified cdrs. Haven't had a problem yet, and they play on my discman too.
