Looked in my local ad and saw to my disbelief that Best Buy has a 50 pack 12x CDR Media from Imation for 29.99. 80 minute too. Anyone know if Office Depot has these for a price match?

Also, i saw that they had the Rio PM600 going for $169.00

I'll check out Office Depot if we could pricematch, if not, I think this is a good enough deal for me to run down best buys to grab a pack. I am more of a quality guy then price.. I rather spend $10 more and be sure my data is good with imation brand (i've used for the past 6 month or so). Then go with brands like GQ or PNY.

Where did you see this AD? morning new paper? Hrm, someone get a pack and tell me where they are made in (what country), and what color is it on the data side.

I can also confirm that there is a BestBuy ad for the Imation cd's. It was in my Sunday paper. It's on page 24 and their sku# is 41220 I think.

I went looking for those Imation at Outpost.com, but I couldn't find them. Are they still there? Wasn't there a $10 rebate on these as well, or am I just imagining that. Oh well.

On the outpost CDR media, just do a search for "kingston h". I see
they are backordered on the 50pk 12X for $19.95, but they do have the 8x spindle in stock for $16.95. Shipped free overnight, no sales tax. I bought the 12x, and haven't had a coaster burning at 12x.

Imation and kingston are both made by cmc. But imation has a top layer while kingston has printing on top of the second layer. The top layer makes a big dif in durabilty

So, would it be better to go with Imation or the Kingston? I assume by your post that the top-layer of Imation makes it better? Can you explain? Because if Kingston isn't that different then I'll just save $15 and buy it from Outpost then. Thanks.

If this helps or not. I was desperate for some 80 minute CDR's so I went to office max and they had a 10 pack with slim line cases for $11. although this is no hotdeal, I took one of the CDRs and popped it in for identification. This is what i got back:
Disc manufacturer: CMC Magnetics
Type Phthalocyanine (gold)

they are gold color, on the bottom side.

OD price matched, $31.00 from $49.99, gave a grand price of $18.99.

Not bad!

Ringzero,

Just curious, but how can you tell who the manufacture of a disk is??

What app are you using to determine this??

Yep There is a chance of a Scanned Ad, if you have left your e-mail it would have been EXTREMELY helpful for me, but I guess you didn't.. and I have no real place to upload it, because i'm late for work. I will e-mail it to you later today if you e-mail me.

As well as anyone else who wants the Ad too.

Dimwit...I'm currently burning both the 8X and the 12X Kingstons and I've got one bad one out of 35 combined so far. I'm burning at 8X. Very good odds....

xDeLiRiOuSx,
Geesh I am sorry I did not reply sooner,
I was working late yesterday and today. Just got a chance to check out the forum now. Just sent off an email to you.

I managed to get out at lunch and drop by at BB to get the sales ad, then I went to OD to return the OD brand CD-R's that I got, and got the Imations for the pricematched $18.99 price (+tax) which is a better brand and deal.

Thank you for your help David,
Sorry again for not responding, and thanks for putting up the scanned ad, I am sure it helped numerous people who didn't have a local BB to drop by at.

Thanks again
JB

Cool, no problem! I was just courious because I could not find a local Office depot (out of the two around me) that carried Imation 80 minute CD's, that sucks! But I went ahead and bought it at best buys for $30. I guess it's worth it for the quality.

Thank you for the Best Buy scan. It helped me. I took it to Office Depot and got two spindles of the Imations for $52 including tax. (The shelf price was $40 each.) Appreciate the help!
