I can't attest to the quality of this bike, but I assume it's not very high. It would probably be a good starter bike for someone.

Does anyone know the quality of this bike, i want to start biking and thought it be nice just to have a bike to get around with

For real trail riding I would stay far away from this bike, but for riding around the neighborhood, it might be alright.

Nice deal.

I would strongly recommend printing out their Mongoose selection, bring it to your local Mongoose bike dealer, test out the bike, make sure it's not to short or tall for you, pay attention to the model number and size. If you know it's a perfect fit then go home and order.

There not the best quality BMX bike and are rather heavy compaired to other good BMX bikes.
If you plan on raceing or bike weight is a factor in the kind of riding you do, stay away from a mongoose.
They use to be a top quality bike, but in recient years started using cheaper components.

I have a feeling this is an older mongoose, from what i remember from the sunday paper, it uses shimano components , and a rock shox judy front shock. Looks decent for the price. I spent ~700 on my trek 6500

I laugh anytime someone posts a deal on a bike, because the "holy-er than thou" bike gurus start coming out of the woodwork to tell how bad the bike is. Of COURSE nobody's going to be doing any BMX'ing on this bike. This is a high quality consumer market bike, and a heck of a deal at that. It's like saying "Don't buy a Porsche, because it'll never stand up to running the LeMans".

People in to bikes are a lot like people that are into computers. They tend to build their own rather than buy one off the shelf if they want something industrial strength. I'm sure this bike will handle the dirt trails at your local park or the curbs in front of your house just fine.

Well, this bike is a cheapie brand Mongoose. I had an mongoose MGX-50 before which I got at Costco and it was junk. THis bike however is a lot better as it has a pretty decent front shock. Rockshox Judy is a pretty good shock which are found on 500 Dollar bikes. The components such as Shimano Alivio are decent to as this is Shimano's medium end equipment. If I remember right it went acera-->alivio--->STX-->Deore. Not a bad deal but not exactly the best either!

I'd check Walmart for this bike. It's a cheapie bike, but it would certainly be great for a beginner mountain biker. I paid that much for one of the wheels on my downhill bike!
