50 Mbps to the home for $49/month

What servers do you guys think are going to give you data this fast?

Also, if you did find a way to max out your connection through multiple torrents, etc...you will probably hit the cap, be it official or unofficial.

You all lose.

128kb/sec = $120.00/mo out here in west Africa, and actual download speeds I get are about 1.5kb/sec since it's shared bandwidth with the entire damn city. Slower than my old 56k modem back in 1995. 🙁 There's only one provider out here so we're basically screwed.

50Mbps/$50.00 is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

I said the same thing when I first got 1.5Mbps DSL.

Who cares now that torrents are basically gone? What websites allow you to download anywhere near your max speed?

I haven't had latency in any video game since my 384 DSL days...

Retard post of the day award goes to you.

I'm serious, explain the benefit of 50mbps over 20mbps to the average user in the US.

I don't know of any websites that are anywhere near fast enough to support that kind of speed. Upload speed was helpful when I could get to demonoid but that seems pretty much over.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind the extra speed but it would be nice if the Internet could keep up.

Only real option here is Qwest 1.5 for $35. Only because I don't consider Comcast as an actual company that any sane person would ever do business with, regardless of circumstances.

Our obsession with a free market allows companies to operate under the business plan of "Lowest quality service at the highest allowable market price".

Here it's .6Mb/s down and .4Mb/s up for free, or 35$ a month for 1.5Mb/s down and .4Mb/s up. Shitty 🙁

the best thing about all this, when competition finally does come to my town

i will dump comcast first thing

i could give a shit less if they upgrade immediately

it will be punishment

Those bastards! I just closed on a house yesterday and signed up with TDS this morning. They were telling me that 25MB for 49.95 and 50MB for 59.95 was what they had. The customers that had originally signed up with 25MB service are being upgraded for free. I tried going for it, but they said it was a "current customer only" type promotion.

I'm going to send them this link and say I want my price dropped 10/month. Or just sign up for 25mb service and call back in a few weeks asking where my upgrade is, haha.

Fsck that! You could easily buy your own InmarSat w/ dual ISDN modem for that and have it all to your self!

Do you think Hulu would be around if everyone decided the 384 was enough? YouTube? Speaking of my own industry, flash games couldn't be as big. Xbox and PS3 couldn't have their downloadable games section. Steam wouldn't exist. The list goes on - it's funny how technical advancements need to precede great new ideas.

I was going to tell all you people to eat shit until the dialup guy and the dude from W. Africa chimed in. Brothers, I remember the dial up days and I, for one, feel for you.

I will now be thankful for the monthly shit sandwich called the bill from TWC. 5 down 768 up @ $60
