What kind of processor are you running?

In my opinion kinda high for an Athlon, WAAAAY too high for a p4.

If you're on an AMD chip, without overclocking, you are just fine. I ran my XP 1700+ at a bit over 1800+, in a very hot room this summer, with the stock AMD HSF, and the chip was around 50-55C the whole summer (full load). No problems. I upgraded the HSF recently just for safety (now I OC it a bit more too), and it runs at 30C idle, 38-40C load.

You should be fine unless you're overclocking like mad.

I am running a AMD Athlon XP 1600+ not overclocking it. Looks like it bumped up to 52

UPDATE: Put a 120mm fan blowing directly on it and turned a 4th 80mm fan on to blow things around...Dopped it to 45....

lol....Well, it was still getting too hot so i removed the heatsink (good time to do it seeing as though it had 1/4 inch of dust caked in/on it) and re-applied thermal compound. she's runnin smooth now at 37.

Dindn't u you take any classes in thermodynamics? PV=nRT pressure goes up, temp goes up :)

Then again i can't think of anywhere else where physics applies to the real world ;)

...

he's talking about cleaning the fan and heatsink using a can of compressed air ;)
