I'm runnin at 50 degrees C is that too hot or is that an ok temp? it isnt going above it.....the other day it was at 42😕 i did move a few fans around but just want to check and see if that temp is ok or not.

What kind of processor are you running?

In my opinion kinda high for an Athlon, WAAAAY too high for a p4.

If you're on an AMD chip, without overclocking, you are just fine. I ran my XP 1700+ at a bit over 1800+, in a very hot room this summer, with the stock AMD HSF, and the chip was around 50-55C the whole summer (full load). No problems. I upgraded the HSF recently just for safety (now I OC it a bit more too), and it runs at 30C idle, 38-40C load.

You should be fine unless you're overclocking like mad.

UPDATE: Put a 120mm fan blowing directly on it and turned a 4th 80mm fan on to blow things around...Dopped it to 45....

lol....Well, it was still getting too hot so i removed the heatsink (good time to do it seeing as though it had 1/4 inch of dust caked in/on it) and re-applied thermal compound. she's runnin smooth now at 37.

Damn you lucky there wasn't 1 fire! 😉

compressed air is your friend... hehe

Dindn't u you take any classes in thermodynamics? PV=nRT pressure goes up, temp goes up 🙂

Then again i can't think of anywhere else where physics applies to the real world 😉

he's talking about cleaning the fan and heatsink using a can of compressed air 😉
