Rapper 50 Cent Arrested for Weapons in Car

NEW YORK - Rapper 50 Cent, whose hits include "Wanksta," was arrested Tuesday morning after police found two guns inside a car double-parked outside a Manhattan nightclub. The 27-year-old, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was arrested just before 2 a.m. after police responded to a complaint about a sport utility vehicle double-parked outside the Copacabana nightclub, said police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wysokowski.

When officers approached the vehicle, they saw a .25-caliber handgun on the floor of the SUV, Wysokowski said. A further search turned up a .45-caliber pistol. Police said both weapons were loaded. 50 Cent and the four men with him were each charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

50 Cent was discovered by Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay, whose real name is Jason Mizell. After the Oct. 30 execution slaying of Mizell, investigators learned of a threat to 50 Cent; at their suggestion, the rapper canceled a performance. Police later downplayed any suggestion that Jam Master Jay's killers were after 50 Cent. The Jam Master Jay shooting is still unsolved. Eminem has been helping 50 Cent in his career, and his song "Wanksta" is on Eminem's multiplatinum "8 Mile" soundtrack.

I'm not going to make any assanine "rap sucks" responses as likely a few will but that guy deserves to get caught if he had a handgun in plain view in his car

Hi Josh.

I wonder if he was somehow involved in the killing of that other guy from run dmc.

Noo, he was found by Run DMC's Jam Master Jay, I doubt he wanted to kill any of their members...

He wasn't arrested for transporting, he was arresting for criminal possesion, big difference. He's not legally able to own a handgun.

Ahh, yes, he's on parole/probation...a quote from his song "Been on parole since '94 cause I commit the crimes.."

I thought this was going to be a thread about someone getting arrested for stealing $0.50 but it ended up be about a dumb rapper. I wouldn't be bothered one bit if they were all arrested.

Not to mention the fact that they were loaded, and one was easily accessable. In most states, to transport a handgun, the ammo must be seperate from the gun and the gun broken down into a non-firing mannor. I usually do all that and put it in my trunk. If you are going to transport, do it legally.

Please guys, modern day hip-hop is a complete joke, feel free to dis it all you want. If any of you have ever heard 50 cent, he is without a doubt the most uneducated, retarded, and idiotic rapper i've ever heard.
