Hey Guys,

I just finished building a new Pc, well first build and want to know if my temp is too high with stock cooler and Artic Silver 5?

is this normal.

FYI I have not overclocked the CPU, just want to know if I doing something wrong or did I buy a Bad CPU.

No not a bad CPU. You basically have 2 dual cores under a stock HSF, it is going to put out some heat. What are you using to read your temps?

Intel says maximum operating temperature to stay within spec is 71C on those ones. So if you are staying stock, 50C isnt the end of the world. If you are OCing, I would hope you are getting a better HSF anyway.

Use RealTemp for reading your temperature.
Remember that the idle temperature is far from exact. You have to use the calibration method on the RealTemp web site to find your idle and even then it will still have an error in it.

Finding out the temperatures for these 45 nm cpus is a real pain in the butt. 😉

50c at Idol??? Check your stock HS and make sure all the snap pins are attached to the motherboard properly. Hopefully you cleaned the surface of the CPU and applied a (small) BB sized amount of "TIM". 🙂

We need more information about your temperatures under load, (using RealTemp) and what cooler you are using - idle temps really don't mean anything.
