This won't bother them at all... if they aren't upset about murdering so many middle easterners then congress won't cry about a couple more billion for the MIC and Haliburton et al.
 
Yep. I posted this in the Spending like drunken whores thread by BBD. Pretty sad really. It will catch up with us (debt)....it always does.
 
Ok, I have to say I'm all for defense spending within reason and we are well within reason on defense. The problem I have is this administration spends money like its literally free money and has no effect on anything else. This deficit is absurd and we're seeing a crowding out effect on the private sector, not to mention this deficit will spawn inflation if its not brought under control. I am beginning to worry about the long term effects of this deficit on our economic well being for the simple fact that Bush refuses to veto a damn thing and the republican house and senate are putting more pork in the budget than the democrats of years past.
 
Overall, Congress already has given the president about $350 billion for combat and reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan and fighting terrorism worldwide since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, according to the Congressional Research Service, which writes reports for lawmakers. That total includes $82 billion that lawmakers approved in May.

Jesus this is getting expensive. Anyone know how much goes to Iraq and what goes to Afgan.? Seems like they just like to muddle the two together.

From what I've read about 65 to 70% of the "war" funds go to Iraq.
