Shares of Dow Chemical Co. jumped more than 11 percent after Britain's Sunday Express said that U.S. buyout firms and Middle Eastern investors are preparing a bid of at least $50 billion for the Midland-based chemical maker, Bloomberg News reported today.
The offer may be between $52 and $58 a share and be made by the end of this week, the Sunday Express said, citing unidentified "sources close to the deal."
Dow Chemical surged $5.03 to $49.50 before the official start of U.S. exchanges, Bloomberg reported. The stock fell 0.8 percent to $44.47 on April 5 in New York, valuing the company at $42.7 billion.
