Hey. I've had Telocity DSL previously; now I am with Bellsouth DSL. In my area Telocity licensed bandwidth access from Bellsouth, which meant that anytime there was a problem (technical) I was calling Telocity and Telocity was calling Bellsouth, and it got a bit too complicated for my taste. Apart from tech service, though, it was good. It was 39.95, too (and fast).

I double checked, they want to charge me for $50/month. Maybe it depends on the area.

Or, maybe I can sue them? :D

I've had lots of problems with them. I'd make sure you really want that $50.

Here's an old post on complaints.

Lately, their mail server is dropping out a lot. Yesterday it was bouncing mail back to the senders. And I'm always getting re-prompted for my password by Outlook.

The $50 is the best deal available here in Cleveland if you want unlimited, no-questions-asked, static IP connection. Ameritech wouldn't allow network connections (not that they'd know) and they wanted about $80 for the static IP address. What a ripoff.

Anyhow, Telocity support is awful, and they subcontract all the installations around here through some scrub company called Rhythms, who talk out their a$$. (No idea what they're talking about.) Our Telocity service was out for over a week this summer and they were giving us the wrong answers the entire time. Plus they never called back like they promised.

Overall, I would recommend you put your money anywhere but here. While it's good service when it's up, it's not a very good company.

CrimsonKing, have you checked out Earthlink/Mindspring? It's available in Cleveland for only $39.95/mo for 1500/384, but the IP is dynamic. I've had pretty good luck with it so far, getting around 1220/320 and am ~6500 feet away :)

Telocity SUCKS!

I have their service right now. Let me just list a few of the problems I've had.

-charged $150 for cancelling service(I never cancelled, 1 yr. contract is up this month)
-charged twice a month in June and April
-They won't mail me a bill, only credit card payments
-Get ready to wait on hold for an hour minimum
-49.95 a month, one of the most expensive DSL providers
-Bandwidth hogs

I recommend not using Telocity. If you can scam them into a 50GC and then cancel then do it.

I, on the other hand, have had Telocity dsl for the past 2 months and LOVE IT!

I am getting about 800downstream/770upstream.

Their CS sucks, cause they have no idea what they are talking about but they forward all issues up the food chain and all my problems (2 minor probs) were resolved within a day or two.

For $39.99/month, no annual contract and the first 3 months free, you can't find a better deal anywhere else.

FYI, my DSL is through Northpoint and their CS is pretty good.

Just my 2c.
