50 (2x25) Memorex Dual Layer Disks for $39.99 @ Buy.com

I would highly advise against buying Memorex DLs as they are of a very low quality dye.

Just stick to the Verbatims when they are on sale.

Totally agree!
Void Memorex like plague and get Verbatim whenever possible.

Just make sure that the Verbatims are manufactured in Singapore or Taiwan.
If it is made in India it as bad as Memorex (if not worse).

Agreed. My experience with Memorex media (and DL in particular) has been horrible.

Verbatim is the gold standard on the DL media.

Yup ditto. Any time I put Memorex in any of my DVD burners it takes a year and day for the laser to cailbrate. 1 in 15 will fail to burn and sometimes they are unplayable after burning.

Stick with Verbatim but don't purchase Verbatim from Amazon.

Supposing 1 in 15 is unplayable, that still would yield you 45 disks for $40, which is a pretty good deal. The only time I've had issues with memorex has been something that was my own fault or bad source media (in which case verbatim probably won't help any).

Well, they are the copper standard, which is as good as it gets for DL media.

The problem isn't whether they're playable now. In a year or three, the Memorex dye may deteriorate to the point where many or all of the disks become unplayable.
