If you can do it and live with your decisions then by all means I think people should go for it.

Cheers,

There are actually a lot of risks involved... but there have been women who have had a lot of success with it, who have donated their eggs 4-5 times (I was reading an article about a woman who donated 4 times, $10,000 each time).

Are you and your significant other thinking of donating some pre-baby parts? This is atleast the second thread on this today and I am curious as to what has you so interrested all of a sudden. You may have already answered that, but I don't care what most of the people here think so I didn't read the entire thread :)

Risks are listed in the links provided above, and can be found by typing in "egg doner risks" into google, etc.

Average pay is $5,000 but can vary according to doner characteristics. "Pay scale" from Creative Conception

The following is a basic compensation fee schedule of what a donor might receive:

Base fee - $5000.00
Travel - $200-$300.00

Added bonuses:
High GPA (with proof) - $500.00
High SAT (with proof) - $500.00
Positive Pregnancy (confirmed at 2 fetal heartbeats) - $500.00
Previous Donations (with medical records) - $1000.00

for $50,000...ya, but i thought it was usually closer to $4000 per egg.

Oh, and the day i encourage my sister to donate one of her eggs, is the day hell freezes over :D

I've been flamed to hell and back for intimate personal info I've chosen to share with the AT community, and despite constructive/helpful comments from a number of ATOT-ers, I've decided to keep my private life, well... more private.

I believe that being able to assist couples who cannot have children is a blessing, and fully support anyone who chooses to do so, male or female.

That's fair. But...

That is all you had to say.

I hate when people bring in the "i just want to help" crap.(dezign, not talking about you, just people in general) Yes, a perchentage of ones reasoning is based on wanting to help, but the underlying fact is that they just want to feel good about themselves. Every act is one of selfishness.

well...

I think it would be more selfish to sell it to a laboratory to use for experiments rather than to a fertility clinic.

No offense taken, CheapArse. That point can definitely be argued... in which case, anyone who does anything nice or kind could be accused of selfishness. I think there was a thread on this awhile back... with examples refuting that line of thought being Mother Teresa, etc. who continued her humanitarian acts quietly, humbly, and without any/without expecting any recognition for a long, long time.

A number of egg doners are already mothers, who honestly want to help other women who cannot have children experience the joy and love of a child of their own. Of course they'll feel good about themselves in the process, but that's just a bonus, not the initial motivation.

...kind of the same. one is for the money, the other is for the feeling that they helped someone. Now, if you would rather have the money than a 'feeling' thats your personal opinion, but they are pretty much the same. Some people would value the feeling rather than the money.
