I have US$5 to spend on lunch. Where should I eat? I could get 3 Mcdoubles, value fries and large sweet tea from MickeyDs or one burrito made of mostly rice from Chipoltles. I could also get 3 junior roast beefs, value fries and a small drink from Arbys or a Jumbo Jack w/cheese, Coke and small fries from JBox.

Finally there is Croque Monsieur (French twist bread with tender ham, warm Swiss and our savoury garlic cream sauce) w/ Tomato Basil Pesto Pasta salad or fresh fruit from La Madeline.

Hmmm....

Costco, 2 slices of pizza and a drink, under 5 bucks. Costco 1 slice and a churro and a drink, under 4 bucks.

Churro!? What the hell is that? 😉

I usually associate those with Christmas time, along with a cup of cocoa walking around Holidays in the Park @ Six Flags.

Ha that's cool.

IM RICH BIACHHHHHHH

My work day starts at noon so I usually have whatever leftovers are available from dinner the night before, before I head to work. I save a bloody fortune.

Search a few vending machines for change until you get enough to pay for tax on five crispy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's.

Serious question: why, given your medical history, do you eat this crap?

I dont blame the onset of UC on my diet. I blame it on the immunizations I took while I was in the Army to serve overseas. Life is much better now despite almost dying last October and breaking my tibia in April. Im glad I stuck around. 🙂

I dont blame the onset of UC on my diet. I blame it on the immunizations I took while I was in the Army to serve overseas. I was first diagnosed in 1990. Those immunizations turned my immune system into a Frankenstein that started attacking my healthy tissues and I was told I could no longer serve. The best part was that I was not compensated for this, and not knowing any better at the time I left it at that and went into banking. There was no history of this on either side of my family.

It then went dormant for 7 years. I used to drink a lot and I suspect that along with the stress of taking on a big responsibility of helping to raise my three nephews and neice caused it reappear in 1997. It stayed for good this time.

Thirteen years and a couple of hundred thousand dollars later I started life in 2011 with a brand new system. I stopped drinking in July 2008 and am relatively careful with my diet. I have to avoid spicy foods and especially Jalapenos because it causes the stomach to release excess acid that is not absorbed completely by the small intenstine which is now responsible for all digestion.

Interesting. I was honestly curious.

Out of the national chains, my favorite $5 lunch is tuna salad on a plain bagel from Dunkin' Donuts + a small coffee. Filling plus I love coffee.

La Madeline sounds good, though, never been to one.
