Eh, 2, 3, and 5 aren't signs that you're too old because they're true.

I agree with several of those points but it also seems like Cracked writing quality is going downhill a bit.

Didn't even click. Video games are many things so no one is too old for them.

Just reading #5. I was just thinking about that video lol. Griefing I dont mind as much as the assclowns who badger you if you dont play to their standards. I got out of world in conflict due to the amount of a-holes that played the game. A-Holes who didnt understand what the circle with a timer above it meant, then yelled at me because they ran into my arty barrage.

Ugh. That game was destroyed by all the people who never actually learned to play it.

#4. You Think Games Are Suddenly Too Long
That is the exact opposite of reality. Most long time gamers are complaining that they've reduced the length of games.

The whole article isn't very good, but that was the worst.

I agree with 5, 3, 2 and 1. I disagree with 4 as I think games are too short. And yes, I probably am too old to game.

Games are too short. Even shorter when it takes a split second to look up a "walkthrough" that spells everything out you need to do to complete the game even faster. Back in day you had to wait 2 or 3 issues of Nintendo Monthly to come out before getting the secret walkthrough needed to get you past some difficult spot in a game if you and your friends couldn't figure it out. Speaking of which, games back then took collaboration to figure some of them out. You couldn't ask adults because no self respecting adult back then played video games. Those were for kids.

Now a days it is much easier to figure out or look up how to get past problems a game may present you. No more getting stuck on a level where you didn't realize that the red block in the yellow wall was where you needed to stand while pressing UP+Right, B, a, b, b, a to get the secret door to open. Just pull up gamefaqs and move along.

I only agree with the "multiplayer is bullshit" assertion, and that's because multiplayer truly is bullshit if you're older than about 19. Which is the point they make anyway.

I like long games. I am fine with short games too, sometimes, but I'm fine with a game taking a long time to complete. I have less disposable income now, being a responsible adult with bills to pay, so if I can get a single game to keep me interested for a few months, all the better.

I do not feel that creativity is dead, or that games are no longer about fun, or that games no longer have interesting stories. So in that regard I agree with the Cracked author's critiques of those assertions. I'm not that nostalgic for old games so I truly think that newer games are genuinely better than older ones, at least in most respects.

It's increasingly socially acceptable to play games, and people of all ages play nowadays. Get used to it.

Only 5 is correct. 3 is sad since the game he makes fun of is actually more interesting than all the FFs put together...

Maybe 3. But the list should really only be 1 item long.

1) You are dead.

Just #5, but I can sum it up in one word:

Matchmaking

This is one thing that consoles never really got over the PC counterparts, is the much more plastic control over servers. I got burned out on CS 1.6 multiplayer with a regular server crowd, and had some enforcement power on respect for other players (no flaming, hacking, etc.). Before then it was just direct dial-up with people I actually knew. The random cycling of 360 matchmaking got old really quick.

Games have definitely gotten shorter on average, and while I admit to sometimes needing to get into game action sooner, I get the most enjoyment when I put a lot of time in a game. I play a few hours at a time anyway.

Although the list was meant for satire, I would make one serious comment. The point I agree with most is the idea that the quality of single player games is poor and multiplayer and co-op is taking over. Since I really dont play multiplayer, this is a big negative for me. I dont care so much about the length of a game, but really want a good single player story. Bioware used to be my favorite developer because of this, but I have been disappointed in their recent games. Just hope they dont mess up Mass Effect 3.

I know it utterly proves the above point, but you really should try TOR.

The title should read:
5 ways to tell if your are getting to old to console games...I'll never get to old for ARMA or EvE...but I am WAY to old for he crappy consolized games (eg. CoD/BF)
