<< And since it IS Win2k, it'll automagically have IE6 on it. >>

Actually, Windows 2000 has Internet Explorer 5.0 by default.

I dunno can't limit it to 5.

I guess the ones I use most often would be ACDsee, Apollo (MP3 player), ICQ, IE, and WinRAR.

But I'd certainly be up the creek without a paddle if I didn't have Windows Explorer or BulletProof FTP (or some FTP...) or a Word Processor or a SpreadSheet proggie. And it would sure suck to not have AudioGrabber to convert my CDs to MP3s...or not be able to watch DVDs without WinDVD...

fuzion.. i hate the default blue scheme in XP also.. but i saw a nice Silver scheme that made everything soo much better.. i'm not sure where the setting is.. maybe in themes or something.. or maybe it's just a Sony VAIO thing since it was on the sony display system at Best Buy..

great thread, although everyone is either using the same 5 programs or some company/proffesional software. I personally like GoldenGuppy's choices. Hey Gup did you 'download' these free somewhere?

1. Zone Alarm
2. IE 6.0
3. Winamp
4. Microsoft Word
5. Dreamweaver 4

ummm.. I gues AOL IM, cause thats how I communicate with my friends, but I certainly could, and have, lived without it for a while. Maybe Morpehus? I really dont like any of the new file sharing programs at all.... WinMX especially. Only 1 in 20 attempted download actually works for me.
