Nope. I don't really care about who plays what. I can only speak for myself of course. Nof if I know the source material and they change a black charater to a white character, that would drive me nuts.

Somehow I find that hard to believe. The article makes some interesting points about society and what is acceptable but here you sit proclaiming that none of this matters to you.

Well, you would seem to be the exception then.

I do find the prejudices annoying though. Not that I think a lot about them, just reading the article made me go "yeah, it does seem to happen"

When I watch a movie, I am more interested in the movie, as opposed to the politics in making the movie. Now if they fuck up the script then I would be pissed.

I am an immigrant kid, what do you want? :colbert:

As part of #5: Now, think about the last time you saw a white guy get it on with a black lady

You forgot Road Trip when they stop at the fraternity house they pretend to be a part of.

Edit #1 I also remember Zoe Saldana's other movies, where she bring Ashton Kutcher home to meet her family or how Captain Kirk unsuccessfully pursued her in Star Trek. But who would not want to throw Zoe in the weeds for a night.

Edit #2, a stupid looking movie with Zoe just came out where it looked like she was the girlfriend to Bradley Cooper.

Come to think of it, didn't Zoe get it on with one of the losers in The Losers? She is breaking down stereotypes left and right, but it is easy when you are hot as she is.

I hate when white men play black men in movies about making movies *cough*.... 😀

(p.s. Prometheus had Charliz getting it on with a black man)

So 3 out of the 5 we about how the black actor/actress is being left out. They could have combined #5, #2, and #1 into 1 single entry. - Did Jesse Jackson write this article?

Three comments:

1. Why are you regurgitating a Cracked article here? Did you cite it before you edited it?

2. Two black men survive Event Horizon.

3. Carrie Ann Moss has a stache, so more feminine, seriously?

For #2 If It's a Blockbuster, the Star Better Be White (or Will Smith)

I think this is more an issue for all talented actors. If you don't make movies that make money no one will give you a leading role. I am not disputing the point for this that it is harder for minorities, but it is damn hard for any actor to be a lead.

Also the internet is making it easier to break all these stereotypes since films can be released to video or the internet to make money.

lulz, movies are fantasies, you don't want to be hindered by reality.

When I am watching Mission Impossible, I don't think why isn't Ethan Hawk Asian. I really don't care what ethnicity he is.

I do - it would make the idea behind 'Gattaca' not work at all. No way an asian guy passes off as Jude Law's character as a "borrowed ladder". I believe you meant "Ethan Hunt". But an asian guy in 'Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight' could work. 😉

Lulz no idea why I typed Ethan Hawk at all.

tl;dr the murrikan public is subconsciously racist or hollywood wouldn't do this.
Commercial movies are the mirror of society.

Love actually grossed over $250m worldwide. Failure on that point.

Michelle Rodriguez is pretty, and they even say so. Then they qualify their own statement to imply prettiest of all. Well, sure... that's because A-list women are by and large extremely attractive. I'd say it has more to do with being on the A-list than being pretty directly.

People barely care about history at all, and even then probably not much beyond americans and brits. Seems overblown here.

Ethan Hunt... that's almost Eatin' wise and beautiful woman. :colbert:

Think about it!

You'd have to be a homo not to want to bang Carrie Ann Moss when she stared in the Matrix.

And just because we're wired to, say, get cancer and die once we're past reproductive age doesn't mean that we can't try to do something about it.

More drivel. There is nothing wrong with having a preference of seeing one thing or something else in a movie or on TV, and there's nothing that needs to be done about it just because some idiots decide the results are not politically correct. Your personal tastes and preferences are not (and should not be) subject to political correctness standards. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete idiot.

In other words, more politically correct drivel.

Nah, she does not do it for me, her face is not that attractive. Maybe if I put a bag over her face i would increase my attraction for her. I do know she was a very popular search term once the movie came out. I would pick so many women over here i do not know where to even start.

Some of those bullet points are painting with a broad brush. There are not plenty of movies of mix race couples, but there are enough. One of the reasons you don't see many white men with black women in movies is because a lot of black actresses won't do those roles. Angela Basset turned down the role in Monster Ball, which Halle Berry took and won an Oscar for. Neo Ned is another film with Gabrielle Union and Jeremy Renner. Sanaa Latham has played opposite of white men a couple of times. Thandie Newton , who is mixed though, generally plays opposite of white men.

So it does exist, just not wide spread. I don't think the public as a whole still holds the dislike for seeing a black man with a white woman, its so common. The reverse is still rather new of a white man and a black woman, but it is becoming more common.

Don't forget the one about two female characters having a conversation with each other about something other than men at least once in the film becoming increasingly rare.

Don't resurrect old threads
