Okay, I'm getting some kind of auto dialer thingy calling me at home all the time lately. Not a fax as near as I can tell, but I came home today to 12 messages on my machine. All from the same autodialer. I called my phone co and they couldn't help me. I *69ed the number and it came back as 866-849-3243. I try to call and it's busy (presumably harassing some other poor slob). $5 paypal to whoever can figure out who the hell is calling me so I can get them to knock it off. I'm sick of all these calls at random hours.:|

Yeah...just call up the phone company and put a block on the phone...I think 866 might be one of those new fandangled toll free area codes

Two words: costs money.

I want to know who is calling me and put a stake through their chest. I am sick of this sh*t.

I found this.

<< I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them:
A couple of weeks ago, I was getting a call on my residential line between
8:20 and 9:30 in the morning with out of area on my CID. I'd answer and get
silence, which was weird. Once I picked up and a synthesized voice said
something like "I'm sorry. I have a wrong number", which was weird. A
couple of days later, I got a call form 866-849-3243. When I called it
back, I got a recording that said something like :You have requested to be
called. Press 1 confirm your number and add your number to the database, 2
to have your number removed form the database, and 3 for more information.

Does anyone have an idea what this is?

Yup, it's something like that. As autodialing is for anyone other than non-profit is now illegal, I want some heads to roll.

Already on the GA no-call list. I shouldn't be recieving stuff like this. The weird thing is the *69 results are totally random. Sometimes it's a local number, once it was a ***-555-**** number....which of course doesn't exist. Always the same thing tho.....silence........beeep.........silence.......beep. None of the "hello" tones and other stuff that would lead me to believe it was a fax tho.

Dude, investigate that shyt and then sue on the grounds of harrassment. They'd get busted quick, especially since there's no return number or "take me off your list" option

Yes, *69 costs money. But I had to know what the number was.

Telco won't do call blocking (MCI local). Already called them and asked about this. They were utterly no help at all.

Why do you think I'm siccing you guys on the problem. If someone can come up with a name and number, I have a few attorney friends I will introduce them to.😀
