Hi, I followed this tutorial to create this preloader. If you can see it has 2 problems:

1. The bar moves from the middle and not from left to right.

2. The bar extends past its border.

for starters to use "width" it doesn't use a % it uses actual pixel width. And to start it from the sides you need to move the bars registration point to the left side rather than the middle

hi, i'm pretty sure i had the rp set to the left side

I couldn't open your fla, can you export that as a Flash 5 fla?

i cant actually...flash mx 2004 only saves as MX files 🙁

but here is the code that needed to be changed:

bytes_loaded = Math.round(this.getBytesLoaded());
bytes_total = Math.round(this.getBytesTotal());
getPercent = bytes_loaded / bytes_total;
this.bar._width = (getPercent) *80; // take percentage loaded and multiple by total width of bar
if (bytes_loaded == bytes_total) {
this.gotoAndPlay(3);
}

apart from that the only difference was chaging the registration point of the "bar" (open the movieclip from the library and move the bar so that its left hand edge touches the + symbol for the center of the stage)
