I did the same in august. $15/mo. ? forget that crap.
for the supposed 75,000,000 they make monthly, I think the game could be better and I think that my $15 can be spent on something better. Something tangible that lasts longer than a month. .

LOL - yes, something tangible and long-lasting, like a few hundred cell phone minutes, 15-days of bandwidth, a pair of matinee movie tickets, or 1/3 your cable bill.

It's still just a game

I think WoW will be a major turning point in MMORPGs. 5 million people will end up getting bored from WoW's cloning of previous games and will want a new game that is different. This will lead the "next-gen" games with unique (or old) ideas to pick up the tab. I predict more games for specific niche markets, like PvP or those addicted to leveling.

Basically doing an incredibly monotonous and boring task repeatedly in order to harvest valuable items. Example: Killing Bob the Lesser Dragon over and over in order to collect his Sword of Fire +5 (which he drops 5% of the time) to sell for in-game currency or real-life money.
Some people do it themselves, some write scripts to make it easier, some completely automate the tasks with bots.
Oatmeal Raisin please.

Such as Battlefield 2... which is free on its' servers.

Sub expires in 5 days, haven't decided if i'm gonna renew it, but at this point, i doubt it.
I am completely bored with the lvl60 content. A lot of people say go find a raiding guild and run MC / BWL / ZG for your tier 1 / tier 2 purples, but i find that boring as hell.

I really had fun customizing my equipment to suit my need exactly, and being forced into a set just made me lose interest in it. The worst part is that there are no alternative purples that are comparable.

The second, and probably bigger reason is that the world is just too damn small. I've explored every zone, so nothing's new to me anymore. I pretty much know where everything is, so there's really no more sense of exictment or adventure.

It also completely ruins the epic feeling i had about the world back in warcraft3. Remember when thall and his companions were marching through the barrens for days fighting heat and exhaustion? yeah. i make that same trek in 10 minutes -.-"

maybe i'll come back when the expansion comes out, have a feeling i won't even remember this game by then though.

I believe WoW is the highest earning game ever in history.

Given 1 million people out of the 5 million (20%) plays the game for 3 months:

Copy of game + 1 month play = $40
2 months play = $25

Total earnings = 1 million * $(25+40) = $65 million

A year will net Blizzard a cool = $65 million * 4 = $260 million

WOW!

Sold my wow account on ebay and never looked back.

I would think it is only a night difference, since eve is only dark all the time.

There are plenty of bots/farmers. Bot programs do exist, and they are run by professional companies overseas who pay very very little. There was a huge article in Wired magazine among others a while back. I'll edit if I can find the link.

Anyways, WoW was addicting for me, but kinda sucked overall. The only fun part about it was being on a PVP server. The high level instances were a drag, and the loot was a pain in the ass. But so it goes. Just waiting for another deceing MMO to come out. $15 a month aint to bad.

*fingers crossed* for some innovation with vanguard. Unfortunately pvp isn't a factor for me as the wife doesn't want to get into it in a mmo. Playing a mmo without her is just asking for trouble.

I am totally digging EQ2... By far the best MMO out there in my opinion. Just completely awesome, no complaints.

wow... imagine the cash flow....

5 mil x for simplicity $10/mo (Asia will not pay $15 USD a month) x 12 = $600 million a year... OMFG..... They don't need to make anymore games at all. Damn you Blizzard. I want Starcraft 2. It's been what? 9 years now?

That probably explains your high pitched voice... I was wondering about that.

EQ2 was fantastic, but i got bored of it after a few months, so i quit. $15 a month is literally pocket change for me (i guess it's because we have dollar and 2 dollar coins up here in Canada), so that was never a factor. As long as i had fun for a month, then i got more than my money's worth. I don't know why people think of these games like lifetime commitments, that if the game doesn't hold you for a few years, then it's considered sh1t. WoW was just never my type of game, too childish looking, but that's not to say it's a bad game... obviously some people think it's good.
